Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

          Roland,
Who ever said anything about percentage of the population? What does that have to do with it? RAW NUMBERS IS WHAT COUNTS. Oh, I forgot, you need to use percentages so you can one-up the US. Or you have to combine nations. Why can't you just admit that the US is the number 1 COUNTRY of choice for immigrants in terms of volume. (which I believe was my statement that started this, which you have not disproved yet.)

            Nice try.

But no special role for the US in immigration. End of story.

The raw numbers show you wrong,
so you try to prove something different then I claimed.

Then when I call you on it, you just restate your opinion and say end of story.

I expected better from a man of your apparent intelligence.

You must have overdosed on the magic mushrooms.

But as to t he initial statement:

"The US is still the number 1 country in the world in terms of the number of immigrants that want to become citizens of."

That's open for relative or absolute interpretation. You didn't define a standard. By the standard I use the US isn't. If you want to rely on population size or on splitting the EU into member states for that purpose, then you are right. Of course you have to cook the numbers like an Andersen to maintain that claim....

I believe since I made the statement, my definition takes precedence here. I specifically said Country and number of immigrants. You are the one that tried to cook it by combining the EU. Is it a Country? NO. So who's cooking what. You're the one that changed it to percentage. So who's cooking what?

                  Typical.

                      Now that's desperation.

Yes you could have worked for Anderson.

The EU is not a country. Certain people might want it to be, but that doesn't mean it is.

There would be several other much better avenues in your argument, but I think this one is fun.

                          So, define "country".

Do you dispute that the US is a country?

Do you claim the EU is a country?

If your answer to both is no, we need not waste our time.

Kurdistan may be a country, England may be a country, The United Kingdom may not be a country. I don't think the EU and the US are sufficiently different for the issue at hand, so I wonder what definition of "country" you are using. The EU may be one, and the US might not be one.
