    feel like betting on it?
Your pathetic attempts to twist and put words in my mouth is admirable.

The US will likely attack Iraq, but only after a glorious soap opera involving UN Weapons Inspectors and the discoveries of weapons of mass destruction.

No, it isn't. It is legally justifiable. Murder is not.

      • the well being of a country is all about "logical" questions. if a country is making its choices based on stuborness and not logic, do you see think it has a long life?

        • Zorba: If the US is to abolish the death penalty, I would very much like the first step to be taken by my friends, the murderers.

so the US cares what the world thinks.

The situation isn't remotely comparable with domestic politics.
            no, only remotely.

Not related to domestic politics. Try again...
you said the US doesn care what the int. community thinks. domestic politics just now entered your mind.

There is not logic involved with ethics, Mark.

Being a country is all about stubborness. Would some countries be better off if they joined another country of course.

Would India and Pakistan be fortifying their borders without stubborness?

Israel and the Palestinians. Stubborness again.

                    Think about this carefully:
The US doesn't care what the world thinks, the US cares about a united world can likely do to the US.

This does not involve the realm of domestic politics at all.

The World isn't going to invade the US, or launch missiles at the US, or put on trade restrictions to the US because of its policy of the death penalty. The World could do something about an Iraq invasion...

Says you. In the US it's legal.

Eating meat is murder too, because you are killing animals.

                        • death penalty when it comes to the state, is not about ethics but the supposed reduced crime rate. ethical reasons about death penalty are for the misguided uncivilized masses

Are you really that slow that you can't figure out the difference between domestic politics and foreign relations?

The US isn't in any kind of bad position in the world with its domestic politics. The second it starts invading countries it needs to be more careful and look at what people think about it.

                            Two different realms...

                            • I don't really care for the Death Penalty one way or the other.

The way I see it: That murderer won't kill again.

Not justice, or revenge, or a deterrent. Except for the murderer.

He is deterred from killing again.
