French make their own "ultimate army" game, ultimate surrender!

Oh, of course. If I remember correctly the French soldiers were pretty much told to stay in Dien Ben Phu and wait until the enemy came and then shoot him down. Heck knows if they weren't even supposed to be supported from the air too. Brilliant plan.
The consistent failing of the French military doesn't seem to be the enlisted soldiers but an officer corp that borders on incompetent. In WWI the French officers continued to order soldiers use Napoleonic "human wave attacks" despite the fact that machine guns rendered this an exercise in bloddy futility. In WW2 the officers didn't order an attack when they should have and yet had their forces out of place to defend. In DBP the officers ordered their soldiers into a place were they could not recieve supplies, were they could not recieve air cover, and were they could not get reinforcements if such were needed. Yes, the soldiers are brave but there is something terribly wrong with the manner in which the French train (don't train?) their Officer Corp.

In their defense, the British also did this idiotic plan of attack.
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Not to mention how bad the British trenches were compared to the modern and proper trenches of the Germans. And that was thanks to the British officers who thought that it would just make the soldiers lazy if they had more comfortable trenches than those used (and they really were more like ditches dug into the mud with very bad construction to keep the walls intact from the hampering weather). And not to mention the attitude towards MG's in general. "Put those damn toys somewhere I can't see them!"

The French trenches were the worst though... basically just mud.

the British ones were actually often shared with the French and your description about those French ones is actually the same as mine. They were both as bad.
IceElement,
all of you,
any further comments/questions on my long post on the French and Italian?

They train their officers?
edit: ah, you already had that joke inserted. I better get me some coffee.
Yeah, Moe, that team sure did suck last night. They just plain sucked! I've seen teams suck before, but they were the suckiest bunch of sucks that ever sucked.
Lol, here's another Italian navy joke. Why does the new Italian navy have glass bottom boats? So they can see the old Italian navy.
Uh?
Do we have a New Navy?.... really?
I didn't know that

France is a wonderful country. 100 times more pleasant to live in than the UK, 1000 times more pleasant than Germany and 10000 times more pleasant than the US.
Great food, great wine, great weather, great women ( ), high standard of living, nice friendly people, relaxed attitude, and doesn't suck the US's **** all the time (which is why the Americans don't like the French of course....).
