Wonderful wonderful film. Coppola at the height of his (admittedly self-indulgent, but this time it worked for the cause) powers.

I write for television. Too lazy to venture into the film world. Though I'm due to start developing a feature next month.

Funny you should mention children's television, Sneak. I've just been landed with the task of writing 2 eps of a new children's series. The target audience is 8-11 year olds. My least favourite specimens in the entire universe.

        • Well, you just had a couple over to dinner...just focus on their eating proclivities. Oh, and kids love stuff about belching and farting.

              • Yes, but you're a rather serious lad.

I can't wait to hear the sound of Finbar's teeth gnashing from a world away as he delves into the wacky world of anthropomorphism!

There are already two kids' series here with those functions as the mainstay. I imagine they wouldn't get a guernsey in the States except on cable.

No, I don't write stuff that I hate. Life's too short. That I don't much like children is a different thing altogether. It precludes pandering to them - writing down to them and patronising them - which is the most common fault with children's writing. Stretching and challenging them is the go.

                        • Yeah...put lots of your big words in the dialogue. I'm sure if you drone on and on about grammar and who penned what song, you'll have a huge hit on your hands.

At least we'd have a generation of kids whose priorities are worthwhile. Unlike this current crop of do-gooding, tree-hugging, whale-saving, illiterate little twayts who think to parse is to give up their turn on a Nintendo game.
