  • British Apolytoners Meeting - End Of July

    Hello!

Seeing as there didn't seem to be any conclusion to the other thread, perhaps we can work something out here. Unfortunately for myself and others, it doesn't look like a northern meet is going to work at this stage (bastards, the lot of you! ), so it's going to have to be London, or thereabouts (any other suggestions welcome - Oxford perhaps?) on, most likely, a Saturday - whilst VictorG is still in the country.

I'm going to provisionally suggest the 20th July, at the Moon Under Water, Leicester Square. Who's going to be there?

Then why does she trust you to go off to University on your own?

Arrange one for late august in the beautiful town of Ipswich. It'll be cheap and easy for moi to attend!
Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

Ipswich is an absolute nightmare to get to. I'm sure you could at least manage London... I'm sure we'll arrange something else for then.

Ipswich isn't a nightmare to get to when you're living in Felixstowe.

That's true. But it's a nightmare for anyone even vaguely to the west of the country, and anyone it isn't a nightmare for is within reasonably easy reach of London anyway. Felixstowe to London is comfortably under two hours, for example.

Yes, but you're working under the assumption that I give a damn about anybody else.

I guess it's because she doesn't have much of a choice.

I'm very doubtful of her sanity. She often screeches at me, saying I'm worthless and that I don't deserve to be popular and people talk about me behind my back.

Frankly, I'm very much looking forward to uni.

That's a strangely Spink-like quality there... before you know it you'll be answering "Aberystwyth" when I ask for any other suggestions...
