Symphonic Prog Rock, a la Genesis, Yes, Floyd etc. easily outshines every other genre ever concieved in the crapness stakes. Possible exception: their modern followers, Radiohead etc.
(*resists temptation to shout at people who don't get Hip-Hop*)
Er, the majority of people who don't litsen to hip-hop seem to be under the delusion that it's about the Rapping, and that the beats are unimaginative, unoriginal trivialities used as a background. Quite to the contrary, the essence of Hip-Hop lies in the beats (just like the essence of Dancehall lies in the Riddims), and the Rapper is merely there to bring it all together, to provide texture and song structure, and cool snippets of lyrics. If you'd litsen to what's going on in the background, you'd realise that modern Hip-Hop is at the very forefront of almost avatgardistic electronica. Who needs The Avalanches when you've got Jay-Z doing the same sort of sampling perfection much better? What electronica can even begin to compete in the exotic minimalism stakes with a well-produced Timbaland track?
Jon Miller: MikeH speaks the truth
Jon Miller: MikeH is a shockingly revolting dolt and a masturbatory urine-reeking sideshow freak whose word is as valuable as an aging cow paddy. We've got both kinds

1) rap
2) techno, especially german 'happy hardcore'. also, scooter is probably the worst band (?) ever
3) sum41
4) lenny kravitz (boring git)
5) quasi-soul (craig david, r kelly, etc)
6) popsicles (britney, christina, boybands)
7) euro-trash german pop (black man raps, slim lady howls, repeat three times)
8) j lo
all this said, you are lucky you never heard serbian turbo-folk. although it might be interesting to you, kind of over the top extravaganza...
I hate pop, country, pseudo-R&B (the popular sh!t like ****gy, Jagged Edge, R. Kelly, Joe).
I dislike hip-hop that caters to the stereotypical G. I agree it isn't as cultured or full of meaning like other music, but some rap is clever and fun to listen to. I can stand listening to Eminem; most of the rap I like is older, like TuPac, Bone Thugs, Ice Cube, etc. I like some techno, but its got to be more than just thumpthumpthumpthump. I like techno with melody; Paul Okenfeld.
I mostly listen to rock and metal. I like it when bands that are real heavy and dark do a song with meaning. Flaw, System of a Down, Drowning Pool, Nirvana, MudVayne are some of the bands I'm listening to now.
I also like classical, but I really enjoy listening to old Russian Patriotic Operas.
