  • I just got red alert 2 and found it........unsettling(capital in fire.....)

Yes I know its years old but I picked up a copy today.

I live in NY, 40 miles from the city.

I was of course concerned about what happened on september 11'th but I didnt feel an emotional connection to it.......

In the earlier levels of red alert 2 you are in the capital, and see many various national landmarks in flames, and you have to mow down line after line after line of brainwashed civilians......I found this very unsettling.

Except for the mission in grand theft auto 2 where you turn a bus load of people into hotdogs, this is the second time I've ever been to discusted by a game that I stopped playing it for a bit......mabey I'll go back to it tommorow.

Am I wierd for being troubled- even in a game- by watching washington burn, all the while you mow down hundreds of civilians?

I like Red Alert 2 and have the expansion. In both of those you conquer London (as both the allies and the soviets in the expansion), Egypt, Russia, Germany and Paris. So it's not just America.

I like the way the plot goes. If you play as the Soviets you see British rather than American news reports after the US falls. It has nice touches like that.

So what is the objective of Red Alert and its follow-ups? Aliens invade the world? Nations attacking other nations and crushing them?

          Fascinating. Just how "alternate," though?

I never played this game and dont know jack **** about it but why couldnt they just have it be a cold war turned hot? Too hard to have nuclear weapons in a real-time strategy?

              thanks

First, this thread should go in the Other Games section. This is especially important because hasn't Vesayen made four off topic threads today?

Back to the topic, Kane is in the original Red Alert. When you play the Soviets he walks in the background, seemingly unimportant. He starts to do more near the end.

                          Chinese are no fun.

And this is about the West. IN the original Red Alert, IIRC, the US really doesn't even show up. It's Western Europe v. USSR.

Damn I would definently buy a game with the Chinese in it. There's no games where you can play the modern Chinese army, are there?
