It's a sad world. No one is going to change it. I have been trying to help people (especially self destructive teenagers) for 20 years and most go right back into the slime regardless of anyone's efforts to help them. It is best to try and remember the few who actually learn something and make something of their lives eventually.

Most compassionate people face burnout before long because people are generally not very rational when it comes to refraining from self destructive behavior. Some learn later when it is too late, but at least they can try and help someone else. People do what they want.

I didn't see this bulls**t earlier, when I first posted on here.

I'm glad that this was resolved by Ming -- but I do think Ming's warning against Bori's understandable reaction was too harsh in my opinion.

I'm sorry if this offended anyone, it was meant to be a joke.
To us, it is the BEAST.

Read Revelations, Albert. It becomes much more clear.
Indeed. Albert might benefit from knowing that psychedelic drugs were a problem 2000 years ago, too.

                Albert-
As bad as things seem now, they were a lot worse 5000 years ago, and likewise, they will be a lot better 5000 years from now.

That isn't true, look at the dinosaurs. If an asteroid collides with the Earth, things will be a lot worse. 5000 years is a long time, a lot can happen.

Personally, I think society was better off 5,000 years ago. Sure, you probably wouldn't live past 40 or 50, but depending on where you lived, life could be very good. I wouldn't mind living off the land, living with my family, with nature, without modern warfare, communism, fascism, MONEY, capitalist pigs, pollution, political correctness, etc...

I would very much enjoy living in a Mediterranean climate (Greece, California, maybe even Israel) on a farm, raising children, without billions of people sharing the Earth with me.

                          Sava, sava, sava.

Dont look with rose-tinted glasses on the past. So many things have improved for humans in the last 5000 years, its just plain silly to think things were better 5000 years ago.

It depends where you lived, why don't you ask people in third-world countries if they're better off.

I think overall, the quality of life as an average has stayed the same in 5000 years. Back then, there were certain people who were well off and others who weren't; it's the same today. For the 200-250 million Americans that live well, there are nearly 50 million living in poverty. And America is one of the best countries to live in, in terms of quality of life. Have you ever been to Mexico? Would you ever want to break your leg in Mexico and have to go to a Mexican hospital?

And Africa is a whole continent were the amount of people living in a high quality of life I could probably count on my two hands.
To us, it is the BEAST.
