Cali, amongst my generation at least, it's very trendy to be a liberal.

Anyway, I was going to start a new thread for this, but this is the UWA Greens at Aberystwyth Town's last game of the season. I'm holding the number five shirt.

I love the over-optimism/over-pessimism of english sports fans.

Will you shut up about being liberal and talk about the football.

It probably would have been fun. That is, unless all the liberals decided that they didn't have the brainpower to make a response and instead just give the post a score.

Why don't you post trolls that are less obviously trolls? Then people might respond properly.

Can't believe you are trying to turn this into politics.

I remember the giddy excitement of the english in the Rugby WC in 95 when they beat australia in the quarter final. Anyone would have thought they had just won the world cup!

I was living in London at the time. In the next game England were crushed by NZ, and I remember walking along High st Kensington afterwards and some woman saw I had a rugby jersey on and asked if england won. She looked so gutted when I told her they lost.

That's the British for you; we have mood swings on a national level based entirely on how our respective sports teams are doing.
"Paul Hanson, you should give Gibraltar back to the Spanish" - Paiktis, dramatically over-estimating my influence in diplomatic circles.

Outside a pub up the road, there are people standing on bus-stops waving St George flags. Flags are everywhere...on the road..on pavements...everyone is bladdered across England!
