I'm thinking something like Alexander's cat
Similar to Schroedinger's but a little more lifelike.

For this to be relevant you'd have to know the context in which it was carried out. ie: How many such creatures are killed by other such creatures? How many domestic birds kill how many insects/lizards? How many domestic marsupials (of which I can name only the Tasmanian devil and the quokka at the moment ) kill how many native birds, etc...
Studies carried out with a specific aim in mind have a nasty tendency to lose their objectivity in the making.
Ah yes. Your tools. And what is man without his machines? A frail species. Though I'd argue frail with or without. For with his knowledge of nature man could achieve diety status, but he is too cowardly and weak to do it.
No, give me a cat. They can master nearly any environment with out the use of tools. And in all there forms can slay any other species that dares walk on their land.
It is because of tools and our intellect that we are the dominant species. Physically, we are pretty lacklustre as a species, but our abilities are far beyond just brute force. Why would you fight with a much stronger creature when you could just kill it with a spear? That is the great equaliser in terms of competition. In fact, not an equaliser, but a gigantic advantage...

But in terms of going head-to-head with another creature, we aren't too good. But yeah, I suppose we have our aquatic capability, which I don't think any other ape possesses.

This is a weird thread to stumble into without reading much of it.

Well you do that, I will use my tools
You'll starve to death building tools. I'll forage for berries and buy your tools from you at a discounted rate due to your desperation. If you refuse to deal, I'm sure that my well-fed strength will make it easy to take what you won't sell.
How long can it take to find a bit of flint and a stick? I'll discover fire then and have some roast boar for my tea. You can keep your berries, although you can exchange them for some snout

My dirty mind thought you were writing a sexual metaphor here.
