  • yes, you can... if I decide to move to Canada, I will still be a European, not a Canadian.

As for those in Cyprus - sure... and those in Anatolia are technically Europeans too, for their country has been concentrating more on Europe than on Asia or the Middle East for 80 years

    • Double post.

      Edit:
      This thread used to say.

Then, they want to bann me because of the gay smilie.
What is considered to be a troll in this forum?

regarding the comment made by Paiktis.
I thought I posted this twice, but I didnt.
This is why I rewrite this here.

Quite a few of you have heads the size of watermellons.
But I like you also Andy, if that helps you any.

BTW, that makes the impression you don't like Mark's trolls, though you have just admitted to liking Stewart. Contradiction. But then, it might be a bit more than platonic in that case
Never attempt to be a debater, you lack the mind for it.
I often talk to Mark in Star Trek threads, and find him interesting, ergo your conclusions are falty.

I will not claim to speak for you, IW, but the nastiness displayed by some posters toward the US is clearly derived, at least in part, from jealousy. It DOES piss them off. Many threads end up in a "The EU will soon be bigger/better/stonger/richer/etc. than the US!" versus "No it won't! USA rules!" cluster****.

For those who aren't so caught up in international pissing contests, I say bravo.

                Ok. thats cool

Regarding Turkey. One really can't blame for wanting to be in the EU. If you look at their neighbors, they don't have much of a future otherwise.

                • Now. What is an European?
Technically, an European is someone born in Europe, or someone living in it for a long time.

In the EU terms, it's someone who agree to build a union of European countries that would transcend the national differences and make Europe as a whole stronger.

                  • Your accusations of other posters ... "lacking the mind" for stuff or "having the heads of water melons" tell a lot about you, moer than you might think they do. In fact it's not the attitude you should show on a board, especially not when dealing with a foreign speaker who might just be learning the language (so much for phrasing points as in lacking mind) as well as being a little more idealist at dealing with matters like peace&war. As for Greeks and Swedes, they were raised in different systems, have common sense, don't think might makes right. That's the differences, and most of us know them. You just put it as "those that I don't like are stupid and the rest lacks the mind". Putting differences in such a way can't earn you a high reputaiton as a debater. Besides, debates with you in them are flame fests usually, don't know who to blame though (disclaimer: it's not only you, it's Greeks and Swedes as well)

yeah, but much of the appeal of the EU is creating an entity to rival the US. Just read the comments on this board. It's not about growing closer to your neighbors. It's about rivalry with the US...

They may end up that way, but by then, the smilie to word ratio is almost 1:1 its not serious.
The real antagonism is not over how European countries are jealous of america. We b!tch about you, and americans can (in their words) "never do anything right". We don't want to be top dog. What would be nice is for our allies to respect our opinion, and take our voices into account when constructing what passes for a foreign policy.
