Yes it can depend upon what's being grown. Fungi can take weeks to months to grow in culture. Bacteria usually are grown for 24 to 48 hours, but after the culture is grown it is then run through batteries of tests to identify the species, and then tested against a battery of antibiotics to determine which will be the most effective.Originally posted by Tiamat
