  • DF:
I doubt a cop can be legally killed for illegal search and seizure, but logically if you can shoot a normal burglar, you should be able to shoot a cop for committing the same crime from my POV.
Floyd people have already said why several times: the reason is that cops answer to higher authorities and represent accountable organizations. Burglars do not.

    • If someone came running at a cop really fast and head-on, how do you think the cop would react?
      Tutto nel mondo è burla

      • Exactly so what does the issue being right or wrong "in your book" have to do with anything?
Clearly, because I think that I have a good grasp on right and wrong stemming from nattural rights

OK, and I asked for why you thought this, not whether the "great state of texas" let you which is what you were implying.
If someone is in my house, I think it is reasonable to assume my life is in danger.

Actually a doesn't automatically mean your point wasn't serious. It could mean you believe my point to be ridiculous or you point to be obvious.
Or maybe you're reading too much into it.

Maybe you should try actually refuting my criticisms and quite making dull jokes to defend your empty dogma.
Maybe that's what I have been doing.

        Some evidence please.
Gee, I would go look up a law citation, but I don't want to. You can believe me or not - if you want to prove me wrong (which I could be, it's been a while since I did look into it), then do so, but I've got better things to do.

Actually it is relevant in that it shows you to be a hypocrite.
I'm one of the most consistent people on Poly, as most people would agree.

Also how do you *know* whether an assaulter will or will not threaten your life? Does he/she say? It seems like you are just making up subjective standards to try to support subjective standards. Person running towards you="looks" agrressive=possible assault=possible life threatening assault=justification for shooting that person. That's a little hard to accept floyd.
Hey, you're doing the words in my mouth thing again. I didn't say you could shoot someone for aggressively coming after you, I said you could act to protect yourself.

If my tactics are high schoolish, that only means a high schooler can debate better then you Floyd.
Actually it just means you're a better high schooler debator than I am - you decide if that's a good thing or not

I believe if anyone is trolling here....its YOU. You even admit that you make fallacious arguments "cause they're funny"
Yes, I'm partially trolling - although I do fully believe every position I've stated. The difference is, I'm not trolling anyone personally, although two other people (well, mostly one) have done that to me.
As to "making fallacious arguments for a laugh" - Jesus Christ. Apolyton debates aren't the end of the world. Chill.

I suggest you add something constructive to this thread instead of trolling me. And evreyone else.
See, what you're doing is trying to get me to flame you. If I flame you, you'll say that I'm inconsistent and a hypocrite, and blame me for making personal attacks. I'm really not that stupid.

As for your "secret meanings" you should actually try being direct. More people understand you that way.
I think you knew what I meant, and I didn't mean for anyone else to understand, or care if they did. If YOU didn't get it, well whupty****

Oh, burglars aren't accountable to the law?

          • Floyd all you have been doing during this discussion is making claims and the backing them up with literally nothing but excuses for why you can't back them up.

Gee, I would go look up a law citation, but I don't want to.
Stuff like that. "I'm too lazy", "I got better things to do" etc. If that was the case you wouldn't be posting on this issue so much, period. Its not that you're lazy or busy, its that you have nothing.

Hey, you're doing the words in my mouth thing again. I didn't say you could shoot someone for aggressively coming after you, I said you could act to protect yourself.
Not really. Maybe you should go back to our previous posts. I asked if you would shoot the guy for running towards you...you said "yes". This an example of your conistency?

See, what you're doing is trying to get me to flame you. If I flame you, you'll say that I'm inconsistent and a hypocrite, and blame me for making personal attacks. I'm really not that stupid.
            .............
            .............
            ......A little paranoid Dave?

Seriously, you should take your own advice and chill.

Also you should check out the next issue of Skeptic magazine, its got an article on it called "The South Shall Rise Again: Neo-confedrates and their ilk". It looks like you need to read something besides Libertarian propoganda.

BTW unless you stop trolling, I'll just ignore your points altogether. Have a nice day.

            • OW,

Yes, those laws certainly exist. My point was more geared towards situations in which a police officer is acting outside the law.
DF... I posted those laws for everyone's benefit. I thought they might be found as interesting by others in relation to the discussion. I didn't actually post them to refute any of your arguments, specifically.

I should have made that more clear in the last post.

I have stated many times that I do not bother to debate , at least hardly ever, on these boards, or others. I do not have the time nor the inclination to try to change someone else's point of view. Besides, nothing is ever really resolved through them, anyway.

I generally disagree with almost all your points of view , anyway, in these different threads.... at least the serious ones.... but why should I get "into it" with you? You have your views... I have mine. Ain't America great. :-P~~

I just put the info up on the board, and people can use them to help them in their discussion... or not.

And I thought they were interesting. I learn something new every day.

Do you think I'm that stupid to have not thought that one through?

There’s good news about two law enforcement officers who were shot while working with an auto theft task force in Hamilton County. Lampasas County Deputy Sheriff Bob Montgomery is out of the hospital. Five says after he was shot in the back of the head. Today the condition of DPS trooper James Jones has been upgraded from serious to fair condition. He suffered a serious gunshot wound to the arm. A third task force member died in the shooting. Limestone County Deputy Steven Davenport was laid to rest Monday. The man who fired the shots later killed himself.

                              • Perhaps the headshot was a graze, and the armshot shattered a bone?

edit: hydrostatic shock could also play a role.
