  • Such amendments were designed to protect you from the great unlikelihood of religious nuts (or any other fanatics) coming to power and raiding your house to confiscate alcohol or contraception pills or whatever, rather than protect you from the normal democratic process.
The 2nd was designed to allow me to protect myself from government excesses.

    dm,

isn't ideas of persecution a symptom of schizophrenia?
I'll thank you to neither put words in my mouth or lecture me on psychological problems. Good God.

p.s. the constitution tells you your rights, not what you can do to keep them. i think you're just mad because people here have a better concept of law and justice than you...the supposed pre-law student.

        And stop flaming me. Period.

yes. you haven't noticed that everyone on this thread has been criticizing you because of your erroneous logic and fairly fanatical views.

                • If a rogue cop breaks and enters, he's no different from a regular armed robber in my book.
                  Depends on the circumstances.

Again, if someone breaks into my house I can legitimately shoot them.
                  Question begging.

So is your average armed robber.
Not in the same way. The organization keeps track of the cops regularly...not robbers. You can sue the whole agency for the cop...for a robber there is no agency or organization to sue.

If a police officer is killed, the person who shot him WILL automatically be presumed to be at fault by the government. How is this just.
That's an extordinary claim. It depends on the situation, usually the cops are in the right.

If he is aggressively moving towards you within a certain distance you can defend yourself to the point of striking first. If he's so much bigger than you he constitutes an obvious threat, you can pull a gun.
What if he's out jogging or going to give you a message(like "look out!")? Or thinks your a friend?

Are you saying its ok to shoot someone for assault or "potential" assualt? Your being more then a little extreme.

To be decided by who? YOU?! That's the whole point of this, isn't it? You want to be able to decide whether someone is infringing on your rights, not the law!

What you prescribe is tantamount to anarchy. Your constitution is there to provide barriers to legislation so as to stop governments from enacting any law they wish. Staying within the constitution is the government keeping up their end of the bargain. Staying within the law is keeping up your end of the bargain. Denying this because it doesn't suit you is undemocratic, and infringes upon everyone else's rights.

What part of the concept of democracy don't you understand??

That's OK. I'm used to criticism and can accept it with a good attitude while discussing the matter calmly.

like you would know. you don't know a thing about me.
A fair criticism. I'm simply making observations from your comments on this thread. If my observation is incorrect I'll freely admit it once you show me I'm wrong. See what a reasonable guy I am?

This is America. I can sue anyone for anything

They often are, I don't dispute that.

No, the Founders took that view.

As to democracy, why does everyone assume I advocate that system?

show me a law. show me a link. then show where it applies to on duty police officers.

because you're going to study law and go into the system itself. duh!

Nah, too lazy. The law wouldn't apply to on duty cops anyway, but it logically should.
