    • Man, you can't cut a guy some slack, can you. A trial was assumed, jury of his peers, and all that.

      • When our concept of brotherhood evolves to the point where we recognise that we all are brothers and sisters, capitalism will no longer be necessary. This will take a while. Until then capitalism will have to do.

Competition is good, but co-operation is better. One day we will all realise this.

the process is starting in some places in the world already, with the best examples being the US , Cuba , and Great Britain.

but there are fources opposed to this. mostly people that are fanatical to their cause, like neo-nazis and muslim fundamentalists.

        • Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
          this is :

          a. irrelevant, as the system of elections I am aiming for is a presidental democracy.
          b. not always true. After all human needs of dictator have been satisfied, it all comes down to the question how good a person is he.

          • Comrades, neighbors, fellow workers. I put before you the case of Comrade Floyd, who has been accused and found guilty of hoarding food stuffs. It has been proposed that he should be ostracized by his neighbors, friends, family, and coworkers.

            How votes the community?
Why should owning food be a crime?

              • from Che

I do believe that the average person misunderstood the international intentions of the USSR because they were deliberately mislead by their own leaders. The historical record shows that the Soviets were far less agressive than the United States (the US made 4 times the interventions in foreign countries during the period of the USSR's existence). It is well known the the US deliberately plaid up the danger of the USSR, claiming bomber gaps, missile gaps, tank gaps, and fighter gaps, that all were later discovered to have been fabrications (generally leading to a massive US military build up of whatever product the company for which the analyist was working produced.).

I think that the USSR was not agressive enough

an agressive state is one that is alive and well

one that won't do anything shows a stagnant state which is in decline

Not owning, hoarding. Taking more than you need and stocking up. It's just a flip example. I could have said public urination or something.

hmmm.. sounds a bit like fascism. but If you meant that in a healthy way, that you're correct. A country that has an aim , f.e. the space race, is on the right way.

                      • For some reason, every time I read something particularily utopian, I have the Peter section of Peter and the Wolf (you know, the string instruments?) playing in my head. Daa daa da da-da daa, da da-da da-da da-da da-da...

And some of chegitz's posts, man, there's been violin concerto in my head for whole thread long.
"Spirit merges with matter to sanctify the universe. Matter transcends to return to spirit. The interchangeability of matter and spirit means the starlit magic of the outermost life of our universe becomes the soul-light magic of the innermost life of our self." - Dennis Kucinich, candidate for the U. S. presidency

that is a way of beng agressive and alive, yes (and far better than some other ways)

the US reaction to Terrorism shows that it is not dead yet, as does Israel's reaction to suicide bombing

It's a horrible example - any system that criminalizes the ownership of food is utterly immoral.

But my original point was, without electing communist leaders, you won't get people to ostracize me, but no one's gonna vote for even a mild socialist in the US, so it doesn't matter.

                              • The point is, right now, and for the forseeable future, socialism/communism have 0 support in the US - the Libertarians have more support than they do.
