Why does Israel keep putting settlers in the occupied territories?

well , several bones that where found over the years have given dna samples the results are , nice , that is for the jews , because when you can go back 2500 years and show that this person had a forefather there , i would say that this is the proof that the land "Eretz Yisrael" belongs to us , point .

who is doing it , well some private medical company , near Tel - Aviv , and the university of Haifa .

jews have a (well most of them) have a unique gene-coding , .....
of course i dont talk about converts ! aldo intresting that sometimes after a dna test people start to look (non jews) at their past , and yes , 9 out of 10 they find a jew in their family history , ......

I'm pretty sure that Israel sees it as Palestine putting settlers in occupied territories.
Like most things, it depends on one's perspective.

The land you live on is Cherokee. Even the most blatant Palestinian lies about the Israeli actions are nothing compared to what the Americans did to the Indians. So the next time you say something about the Israeli settlers, dont forget that at least their ancestors had lived on this land, unlike yours.

Could the Israeli government (not necessarily the settlers themselves) be viewing the settlements as bargaining chips in whatever final status negotiations? By giving up more in the way of settlements, the Israelis might be able to get a better deal in terms of borders, water, etc. than they would otherwise get. There may be some precedent for this. As I understand it the Israelis gave up (blew up?) their existing Sinai settlements as part of the peace treaty with Egypt, though the number of Sinai settlements apparently was much smaller.

Yeah, I think that's the idea.

Unfortunately, no one has been able to force Israel to halt settlement construction/expansion, not even the US. I recall Bush Sr. trying when he was President. He asked them to stop, and then mentioned US aid to Israel in a round-about way. Then I rememeber hearing a lot of the term "anti-semite" and then... well... nothing happened.
