The film experts and whatever are out of tune with reality - no way in HELL was A Beautiful Mind better than LOTR, no way was Halle Berry better than Sissy Spacek, and absolutely no way Ian McKlellan should have lost for best supporting actor.

Any other year, LotR would have taken alot more. . . but there were some GREAT movies out this year. . .

And Beautiful Mind is one of them.

The LOTR geeks are upset because they think that every award should have been given to their movie .

Really? Beautiful Mind was good, I suppose, but Gosford Park was awful, and the only redeeming quality of Moulin Rouge was Nicole Kidman

You're just pissed that Harry Potter was nominated.

I certainly am, but at least not for anything major

I would have liked A Beautiful Mind had it actually been accurate.

People should look up what John Nash was really like, particularly about his bisexuality and his runins with the law.

I liked LOTR. It's a fun flick to see. Beautiful Mind is just one of the artsy movies everyone clobbers over at these award shows.

Let me quote from Reismarks thread, where most everyone who has so far participated in this thread so enthusiastically disagreed with me:

"I'm sorry, but I gotta go against the 'poly crowd on this one. Let me put in in bold so my message shall be heard: There is no way that LoTR is going to win this... no way. Emotionally uninvolving crowd pleasers never win B Picture, even if they do make a lot of money and have a huge influence on the biz (Star Wars, anyone?) OTOH, emotionally manipulative films (Titanic, English Patient), especially those that deal with "diseases" (Rainman, Terms of Endearment) tend to win. Advantage: Beautiful Mind. "

No, because they award a bunch of either artsy or PC stuff rather than cool, entertaining stuff.
