    The AAG: http://www.audiogalaxy.com/groups/group.php?&gID=243383

I thought that at every "theme switch" those who want to could review the previous set. I certainly appreciate input on my choice of songs, and I know many others do too.

I arrived late to the "Blues Theme", but the ones I got:

Eric Clapton - I want a Little Girl: There is a fine line between "tribute" and "pastiche". This is way over that line. Blues-Lounge? Please.

Joe Satriani - New Blues: Worst song so far by a long shot. Can't Satriani get into his thick skull that the mark of a good guitar player is not mad skillz, it's hooks and originality? Plus, it's not bluesy in the least, more half way between arena rock and the worst excesses of the late sixties. Ick.

Goerge Thorogood - Get a Haircut: Novelty Record, okay. Eighties Disco-New Wave-Commercial Crap Novelty Record? (and where is the blues?)

Blur - Essex Dogs: I'm not sure which theme this was meant for but since it's completely undancable and has a vaguely bluesy bit towards the end, I'll assume this one. Anyway, I like it- Neu! and Kraftwerk meets Patti Smith and Britpop. Perhaps slightly ovelong, but has enough hooks to make up for it.

Er, come to think of it, this is possibly the wrong forum for this. It's not officially part of the "community"... could you move this to the OT, ming?

It is better of here as it (post counts) will entice people to post their reviews.

        Vue - Hitchhiking
It's OK, very regular rock, but there just isn't a single spot where I go, "cool". Very bland, in my opinion, more something you might hear on the radio or whatever, but wouldn't rush out to get.

The White Stripes - Jimmy the Exploder
Fairly interesting, but the guy sounds too much like AC/DC, and I don't like that. I also don't understand why the guy sounds like he's playing live, but the band definitely doesn't have that sound. Probably just a poor quality recording.

Fun Lovin' Criminals - There was a Time
Nice bluesy guitar, yet the lyrics make me think of a techno song or something, very laidback beat. Just... mellow... lets you float. OK, the part with the beat down to nothing is bad, the lady being electronicized isn't good enough to stand on it's own.

        Loggins+Messina Vahevala
Not my cup of tea. Too 70s CSN for me, combined with more of a country flavor in the lyrics. The cowbell solo rocks though. Fairly decent solos everall, but I don't like the way the lyrics play into that.

        fintelligens - Suomi Haloo
What is it about someone rapping in a foreign language that makes me smile? Awesome, I have no idea what they're saying, and I don't care. I don't like rap, but this is alright just for the foreign language aspect.

        Solid Solution - Logical Song
Haha, I thought it was just some Russian guy or something who called his song the same as that 80s song, but.. nope Wow, a techno remix of the Logical Song... Interesting, but, way too repetitive, and the original isn't all that great anyway.

robin trower - i want you to love me
Very, straight up bluesy. Which means that I'm not very appreciative of it. The guy's not really "singing", more just talking, and though the guitar sounds alright, there isn't enough, and it doesn't vary much from the classic blues style.
I never know their names, But i smile just the same
        New faces...Strange places,
Most everything i see, Becomes a blur to me

thats odd, the mods always seem so eager to move a thread to the OT (or just close it), but when you ask, they dont seem to hear...

For "Blues Week" I thought I'd see more artists like John Lee Hooker, Lightin' Hopkins, Albert and B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Leadbelly, etc.
But I guess it's my job to turn you on to people like that.

Sloww, the only blues songs I've got on my comp are the ones you and Bonan sent me

fintelligens - Suomi Haloo: I don't think I can really put into words how much this rocks, foreign rap music always sounds good to me but this is amazing

Fats Domino - Blueberry hill: I loved this, top quality blues

All the Radiohead stuff: Especially dollars and cents

Solid Solution - Logical song: This is quite good , takes a bit of getting used to, but I like a bit of old school techno

White Stripes - Jimmy the Exploder: This is ok, I quite liked it after a few listens, never really gets going though

Robin Tower - I want you to love me: Nice blues song

Blur - Essex dogs: Weird but pretty cool

The rest weren't all that :/
