    • I think you're just a crazed madman who is obssessed with cornering me on an issue.

Michael the Great, Ming, and you have made several good, valid points. I have not changed my stance on this issue however. But, I also need to prioritize in what I need to do in real life.

      1) Maintain my studies for up-coming mid-term exams.

      2) Help begin the history club on campus.

      3) Help begin the writers' club on campus.

      4) Hang out with friends when I'm not studying.

      5) Restart the fourth novel that I am working on.

Does this mean that I am not participating in this forum? Of course not -- I just have not located information as to whether or not Japanese-Americans reparations came from taxes.

      • If you want a real laugh, try catching the C-Span coverage of Congressional discussion of this. Last night Representitives John Conyers (Michigan - D) and Shiela Jackson Lee (Texas - D) could have made a case for crossover viewers from Comedy Central with their pathetic whining on the matter.

        • It's just the latest battle arising from a culture of victimhood...

My family's ancestors were victimized by the Vikings, and as a result, I wan't able to efficiently be passed the wealth from my family... I demand reparations from Denmark et al. pronto!

As the ANZAC puts it... "My basis for NOT supporting reparations is the ex post facto and bill of attainder clause in the constitution."

          INDEED!

While poor blacks love the idea of these reparations, I don't think poor whites (who are now in the same wage-slave boat as any other group) need to foot the bill.

I'm not saying 'Get over it', I'm saying: you have no legal basis for your arguments... what the bad white man did was wrong, to be sure, but I hardly think that making arguments 6 generations later is the way to get some extra coin. No one wants to open that can of worms.

          • The reparations punishes everyone, those who were not involved. Even if you were, remember the ex post facto clause...

            • Here's a legal thought: the charter or whatever was signed in 1928. Therefore, before this time, human rights violations were legal and there was no basis to sue for them.

furthermore, slavery was not against the law in America. Therefore, it was not illegal to do so. In addition, you must prove that slaves suffered more than africans to prove that they needed reparations. in addition, comparisons must be drawn between ancestors.

                • If there is slavery reperations it should be paid for by a special property tax in the south. I can't see why I should pay for it considering that my American ancestors were northern farmers; hell perhaps I should be included in the reperations since the southern farms represented unfair competition to my American ancestors (not really as they grew different products) Maybe I should pay since the price of cotton was kept artificially low, hence improving my ancestors welfare therefore improving my welfare
