I would go back in time with an entire library and teach the Romans how to make/use steam engines, electricity, penicilline, gunpowder, etc. I'd also tell them to kill anyone who claims there is only 1 god and show them a globe of the earth.

and he would tell you? What can I gain from those barbarrians. Perhaps you would be lucky enough to become one of Aristotels pupils to educate you that there is nothing interesting there.

I'd go back a week and fill in correct lottery winning numbers fro once

I would present my case on a macropolitical scale (like 3000 years in the futur )
Of course you are right. Also the threat was from Persia (the riches too )

clone christ. that is the craziest thing I ever seen. I like it. That would be worth it just piss christians off.

As for the Romans. Much can be said about them. They influenced the world a great deal. And not just Roman numerals . they accomplished a lot despite having no 0. Imagine the Roman empires surviving another 500 years, or even into modern times . That seems unlikely, because eventualy other nations would gain their knowledge.

as for me. I'd do something sublte. I don't know much about the economy. But I would take steps to prevent the great depression in the 30's. And would hope that in turn would reduce the extent of ww2. Who knows, ww2 might have been just a small conflict if things were different.

Cloning Christ would be fun, but I think I'd go back and persuade Pilate not to crucify Him. I can't imagine what the ramifications would be of Christ living to a ripe old age and dying of natural causes, but it would sure be interesting to find out.

Second choice would be doing something to assure that the Union lost the Civil War. Not only would the impact on world history be fascinating (imagine the 20th century without the US as a world power), but Bush, Clinton, Gingrich, Helmes, Lott, Delay, Gramm, Armey, and Thurmond would all be some other country's problem.

I suppose I would be part of the north as my state was incorporated into the union in 1864. The union needed the silver to fund the war.

But that would be interesting. But I don't think the effects would be that bad. I believe the 2 nations would be like the U.S. and Canada. They would never fight each other again. They would be allies. Both nations would have went to war in WW2. And both would have been victorious. Although what would happen after the war, would be interesting. So instead of a cold war with 2 nations, you would have 3 nations.

How would you persuade Pontios Pilatos to not crusify Jesus Christ? He would just keep washing his hands.
Haven't you seen Jesus of Nazareth by Jefireli (sp?) it explains all the political implications. You won't even have to read the bible

Unless the South managed to win in '63, which is certainly imagineable. Back in the 30s, I think, several historians wrote a book speculating on this scenario, and suggested that Texas would secede from the CSA and form a third, western country.

Or 4, as above. But that assumes the countries would get along. it's also possible that the CSA would have prologed slavery and then, when it was no longer economically viable, set up something like Apartheid, thus becoming the Western Hemisphere's South Africa and a pariah in the world's eyes. But, yeah, it would be interesting to find out, wouldn't it?

Well, since I 'd be a traveller from the future, and since the Roman's believed in seers, oracles, and the like, maybe I could give him a glimpse of what Christianity was going to mean for the future of the Empire. I imagine that would do it.

well christianity per se didn't do that much to the roman empire since it adapted to it and became.. holy roman empire
it was the barbarians that tore it down (actually they inflitarted and desotryed its norms way before that happened).

I think bribery would work better

A: Make sure the US never existed

                          Nah, too predictable answer.

What I would do if I get one trip back in time:

Before the trip I would learn to read/write old Egyptian language.
The trip would then go back to the time when Cleopatra was about to get the trone (sp?). After marrying her I'm going to write something on some wall, that they need to find a guy named Osama and kill him before he plays dirty games After writing that, I go back to Cleopatra to have some fun with her
This space is empty... or is it?
