  • History Quiz: The Spanish Cvil War was fought...

    Instructions:
Vote for the names of the two sides, not what you think of their political ideology!

    Point:
Well, I asked, and was not listened to. Someone let the whole Keresnky cat out of the bag. Anyway, I will give this poll just 2 days, since there was a decent turn-out. It is also a different type of poll, to see if this format works better. I do remember my stupidity at the whole 'herd' thing, since one does not get to look at the poll until they vote, so that's not a problem.

Overall, on a question many 'educated'folk would have gotten wrong, Apolyton did very well. This question is not any hader, just different. Also, I would like some posts about my previous questions, and I would be interested in other people asking questions themselves.

Lets see how long until lefty comes ,
    144
    Socialists
    8.33%
    12
    Conservatives
    2.08%
    3
    Fascist
    17.36%
    25
    Republicans
    29.17%
    42
    Liberals
    2.78%
    4
    Royalists
    6.25%
    9
    Nationalists
    25.00%
    36
    Communists
    9.03%
    13

    The poll is expired.

You've just got to hit "see results" right next to the "vote" button, and then you get to see the poll results thus far.

Ten bucks says that half the people vote for more than two options.

I voted and apparently made the same selections as Imran.

I look forward to someone lecturing us all on who REALLY fought this one.

          Afterwards

People can lecture us all they want, after the poll closes and we get the results. As of now, with 7 voters, everyone has voted for just 2. Thank god for that.

            Who's the joker!

OK, who's the fool who thought that they would pick oneof each?!

I will subtract 1 vote from each, to make up for the fool. I ask for anyone else not to follow that example. If you want to screw with a poll, get your own!

Only two sides in the Spanish Civil War?

Also, the fascists were commonly called the nationalists. Bad quiz.

                    Stop giving things away .

And you know there were two main sides.

Bah, the Stalinists, right-wing socialists, and liberals were hardly on the same side as the anarchists and leftist commies. Damn statist bastards!

Then you have groups like the Moroccan nationalists.

I don't think that the person who checked in all of the groups has a bad idea of the political situation.

Historically there are two main sides. I don't think that the anarchists were fighting in the war AGAINST the socialists .

Like he said, the names for the two sides, not what you think of their political ideologies.

Two groups, and we both know who won and who lost.

Anarchists were fighting the Stalinists. When the Stalinists tried to nationalize the Telephone Exchange in May of '37, the CNT and POUM fought back. It was a real battle. And it was followed by locking up anarchists and POUM members and more theft from the workers. The Republicans destroyed anarchism as a viable force in Spain, not Franco.

And the anarchists destroyed Republicanism as a viable force in Spain.

A little infighting doesn't change what the two main groups were.

And the existence of two large groups doesn't make the smaller groups irrelevant. GePap wrote nothing about any "main" groups.
