  • Is George Bush starting to sound like a Tyrant?

I know his state of the union address went over well in the U.S. because the country is gripped with war fever and a desire for revenge for September 11 but the international reaction was quite different. That speech scared a lot of people, especially the unilateralist tone which has disturbed allies and neutral countries alike. It has been widely judged a very counter productive speech.

I mean "if you aren't with us, you're with the terrorists?" Come on George, give us a break!

And your stupid enough to think that bush is joking?

I would serouisly think about that now. America doesnt threaten nations for the hell of it, we act on it. Give us a few months to collect our intellegence, and watch them fall like dominoes

I am not sure about his choice of nations but what he is saying rings all to true. Think hard and ask yourself is he that far off base? 9/11

I can remember after 9/11, everybody on this forum thought we would never attack afghanistan cause we lacked "Evidence" or somthing....and that we were really just bluffing to put pressure on the taliban.

Then when October 7th came. Everybody was suprised (and kind of angry cause they didnt see it coming )

The way I see it we have police patrol the streets in every country in the world... Why? to protect the honest innocent, what then is wrong with "patroling" the world for the same reason? Trust?

Exactly, that was expeted of him from the beginning, and unfortunatley Osama gave him reason.

Not that the terrorist are good but with such appaling policies and attitude he will have 50 million Iraquis/ Iranians/ Muslims + others whom he will endanger while fighting with the 'terrorists' ready to kill thamselves just to get him off his back, something like the Israel Palestine situation, just this will not be so small scale. If Islam will ever have a reason to unite this is it, or a president like him. A totalitarian leader who thinks that everyone will be scared if they don't do as the big daddy says.

We can only hope that his government and the senate will be wiser not to go in that, WWIII could be just around the corner with this -we will kick your ass- you are evil nations stance.

Nobody liked Taliban, not even the Afghans. But it is trully different when you speak with the same tone against nations, he is becoming more like those muslim fundamentalist leaders every day. Except he is not muslim... maybe we will have another crusade.

If in fact these people are ploting to "kill" your friends and family (nations) I hope Bush and the free world with "nuts" stops it before they do you?

I wouldn't say so, they maybe nuts -the fundamentalists there- and there maybe a bigger percentage of them than in US for example, with the government support - since they don't like US being so involved in the middle east. But that does not mean that most of these people are like us, just happen to be in the state with a bad dictatorship. What is he threatening for, we will bomb you to death?

This kind of attitude will just give reason to normal Iranians. Iraqis etc... to hate the US and the west in general and just make more recruits for death squads in organizations like Al Queada.

He in not protecting us with such wordly display of US power, he is threatening us by generating more misunderstanding between two groups. We will see what are his plans but I hope it is not an all out war against Islam (what an attack on both Iran and Iraq could generate) and their governments.

Instead of showing the west and US as 'normal' and prudent, he goes and displays 'we will correct you' attitude. If that is not asking for more trouble and more Americans/Europeans killed I don't know what is.

I believe that there are better alternatives to that. And definitly alternatives to a much better speach. But OK that could be expected of him from the beginning. Perhaps Osama was waiting for a person like him to become the president to do his mega murder to try to create a war between Islam and the west.

I agree that Bush is becoming a tyrant.
Who else would not listen to the demands of other nations.
He, of course, has no obligation to give the prisoners trial anywhere but in a closed military tribunal- but does that really give the right message? At least let people see the proceedings- for heavens sake! That way the charge that the charges are trumped up cannot be made- although , for prisoners captured in Afghanistan, that argument truly is null. They are guilty. For the ones in the US, let people see the proceedings.

Other tyrannical decrees- why does he not help other countries, usch as India. I repect the fact that it is a catch-22. However, I believe that he could be less hypocritical and give help when it is asked of him.

Doesn't a tyrant do thing against the people's wishes?

Terrorism and WOMD can't be allowed mix. I'm guessing that we're getting intelligence that makes us think these elements are starting to come together.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

He is a tyrant to the world.
                              Possibly not the country.
                              but the world.
and that is what matters in the long run.

Problems loom on the horizon for america.
