But I've already spotted the first Greek coins here in the Netherlands so I think having 8+ different 'nationalities' in your wallet (I currently have 3 myself: Dutch, German, French ) won't be very exceptional a few months/years from now

It sort of does - a large proportion of highstreet shops will accept them so I expect you will see quite a few in England soon too.

BTW, the French Euro (coin) has a tree on it with 'liberte egalite fraternate' around it, while the cent has lady liberty (at least I presume that is who she is supposed to be). No Eiffel tower

I believe that's Marianne, symbol of the french republican spirit.

Isn't Marianne modeled on Leteitia Casta (?sp)

I had no idea Laetitia Casta was so old! They do wonders with plastic surgery nowadays.

You idiot Snapcase. The French update their image of marianne every now and again and Ms Casta won the competition to be the new face of marianne. I'm not sure if it still counts now she has moved to London though.

Unfortunately the image on the coins looks nothing like Leteitia Casta (blame Gasmaske for the spelling ).

Well dammit... here in Finland I haven't yet spotted any foreign Euro coins, and I've been checking every coin I get. Well, Sweden and Denmark aren't using the Euro and they would've been the first coins we'd probably have gotten. Well, I'm still disappointed that no European wishes to come and spend their money here in the freezing cold, dark and snowy northern wastelands... well, they might see foreign coins in Helsinki. Perhaps up here, too in a couple of months.

and btw, the so-called "midget-countries"; Vatican, San Marino, Monaco, Andorra and Liechtenstein don't have their own Euro coins, as they didn't have their own national currencies either.

Well, that's your own fault isn't it? Who wants to live in Finland anyway? Your country is shaped like a d*ck, you're far removed from any other Euro countries and the climate is horrible!

Don't worry, though, I think Denmark and Sweden (as well as Britain) will change their mind sooner or later...

Haha. A d*ck? Duck you mean? I don't think they'll censor 'duck' here. Or dock, was that it?... no, it resembles neither of those... well...deck? nono, can't be that...OH NOW I GET IT! A ****! Well, that's Sweden you're talking about

I actually rather like the German eagle on the coins. It is a bit stylised but still OK.

What does Austria have on its coins?
