Too bad not all candidates were left off or we might actually have a unbiased result, who wants to live in Michigan anyway? Many many better places IMHO were left off.

I apologise on an imperfect poll

However California and Havai are in the lead now.

          Where are you Texas lovers?

          Vote now

I, for one, happen to love Michigan. The most miles of coast line in the U.S. Hot (but not too hot) in the summer; cold (but not too cold) in the winter. (That's right; we actually have SEASONS here, imagine that, ooooh the horror.) Beautiful wilderness. The U.P. Great cultural events. Proximity to Canada--Toronto's just a four hour drive away, Stratford two+ hours, and Windsor is right across the river.

I've been to Georgia. Wasn't impressed.

#2 on my list would be Alaska.

Dont know what the criteria is for a first place vote.I only lived in two states in my life-Pennsylvania and Colorado.
Colorado has far more things to do and much more tolerable weather(and people) however it is far more expensive to live there.
I voted for Nevada even though I never lived there only because of the warmer climate and liberal laws.
Hawaii deserves mention but its probably expensive there as well.
Anyway I live in PA now (and most of my life) in a small city called Lancaster. Its just west of Phila. in the heart of Amish country.
someone mentioned that PA was state of Brotherly love.Sorry but you are thinking of Phila. The CITY of brotherly love(according to Ben Franklin). What a laugh- Try going to Veterans Stadium and rooting for any team other than the Eagles.Brotherly love my ass-better wear a hard hat.
PA shouldnt be on the list since technically we are a commonwealth. Also the state liquer laws are way too conservative-the roads are a joke-and the population is generally pretty misserable. Its too humid in Summer and too cold in Winter.
I could go on but I will spare you all.

It's gotta be New York. We have everything.

Weather: Never hotter than mid-90s or lower than mid-20s. It's warm in the summer, cold in the winter, temperate in the spring and fall. What more can you ask for? One type of weather never sticks around long enough for us to get sick of it. It rains as often as it has to, and not more; we get our fair share of snow (Buffalo has a bit more than it can take, but Buffalo is so close to Canada that it doesn't count).

Terrain: There's something for everyone. Mountainous places (Shawangunks), flat places (Long Island), lakes (finger lakes, lake george), rivers (hudson), ocean (atlantic), forests and preserves (too many to name).

Natural disasters: None. Forget earthquakes, forget tornadoes, forget hurricanes. We don't get anything worse than a little rainstorm now and then.

We have rural areas (upstate, absolutely gorgeous country; some parts of it look like Tuscany), suburban (LI, westchester, New Jersey ), and of course urban. Which brings me to the city. You don't have to live there, but it has everything you might ever need, people from all over the world, and great character.

What does New York lack? C'mon, vote!
It is certain; my conviction gains infinitely the moment another soul chooses to believe in it.

Long Island was pretty cool. I lived there alot of my life..

Lots of Sod farms, Sprawls, Woods, and Swamps. I loved that place

I voted for New York (long island, of course )
