Yes. I'm a fool for wearing casual dress such as Boss and Armani. I'm even more the fool when it helps get me ahead in this world career/girl wise. Class = Respect, don't you ever forget it

So you're one of THOSE people.

The people who wear certain brands of clothes to fit in (Tommy?), thinking that it tells people you're of an upper class, and should thereby deserve respect.

Actually, that holds the opposite effect for me and most people I know.

We see people wearing Tommy, Boss, or even Armani type clothes, and we thinking: He's trying too hard. People who try so hard to fit in don't earn my respect, nor is it a good indicator of class. What it IS an indictator of is how foolishly that person spends their money.

Good God no, not Tommy - that type of sh*t is cheap high school wear for wiggers and twinkies. Think classy, think no logos on the outside whatsoever. Sorry, I just like to look good, and I'll spend money doing it. It has nothing to do with fitting in, it's about feeling good and looking like a proffesional - which helps if you want to get ahead in this world.

Sure, sweatpants and old (insert NFL team) t-shirts are comfortable, though. Have fun in the gutter, champ

Surely you don't mean to imply I'm poor.

          You are in Management, right?

Oh hell no, I hate that crap.

              What ARE you in, anyway?

Oh yeah, Urban Design and all of that riff-raff.

It's interesting, I'll give you that.

And like interior decorating, gay people probably do that better than straight people. So now you're into this whole fashion thing, so people may think you're gay, and will likely choose you to design their buildings for them?

I'm beginning to see your logic.

You are obviously not acquainted with Harrison's Law. This states that you should wear trainers and whatever you like to go out, because those places that have a dress code are total sh*te and you are better off not going in them anyway

I completely agree Asher. I don't wear any of that designer crap totally plastered in the manufacturers name. If I see someone in a top with Tommy Hilfiger plastered across it, the case is that they are generally some thick scally, often with too much jewellery as well. So rather than making them look 'upper class' as you put it, it actually has the opposite effect. It actually makes them look more 'common'.

And I have seen rich kids at Oxford who plaster themselves head to foot in designer gear as well, and actually, they look sh*te. It is a matter of what you wear, not how much it costs, that makes you look good.

hehe...I had a roomate in college like this guy. Good looking dude, nice clothes, but guess what? People laughed at him. Mocked him. He tried too hard to be slick and all he ended up doing was looking like a schmuck. The kids that wore old nfl sweatshirts got more girls than him. Why? Because he was a phony. Plus he had the elitist attitude (sound familiar? )

Cocaine? I don't know how anybody that does something like that considers themselves sophisticated. Well if the fake charm and wit fail, he always has some coke to perhaps get an easy coke ho to go home with him!

The night starts out right (in line of course), with myself preparing for a night of debachary and supposed good times. Yet the scond the chaptsick (HAR HAR) parts from my expecting lips, ID is requested from Billy-Bad ass the bouncer. ID is provided, but to my surprise - 19 years of age is nothing adequate for an 18 year legal limit of Alberta. I beg for entrance despite my obvious pickonableness, yet fagg*tass Billy refuses. He suggests that I go to the VIP line where his "good friend" can see what he can do. Buddy #2 says he can let me in to see my forthcoming girlfriend with a ten dollar fee. "Chump change", I cheer aloud whilst tossing a 20$ in his general direction - as*hole lets me in with a quick smirk and obvious glance of disdain.

The music sucks, I feign enjoyment. The drink girls throw sluttly glances in my direction, I force a wink and some change back. Had I seen more silicon in one location I'd swear I was in wherever the f*ck it is they produce said element. Ah, but I finally meet the Goddess of virtue and charm, and all goes well... *sigh*, we exchance friendly stories, and a promise to meet each other on the dance floor after I purchase the Heineken delight. Had I been in the mood to flail my legs to country & western, said promise would have been filled - but it was not to be so.

I'll cut this short. The ride home with K and M was miserable, with K (the Goddess) crying since she had broken up with boyfriend x a few hours ago. Trite and insincere advice is forced (it's tough to say anything as break-ups are hard and nothing to be belittled), but silence takes majority on my part. K and M converse with each other that K needs a man to treat her right, like a "princess" of sorts... I agree, in usual university tone - and criticism meets such vocabluary in the form of "shut the f*ck up with your big words", etc. etc.

In silence, less a demand to be dropped off immediately, I reply that I will walk through the snow and home. Hithero I have not had the chance to relate my perceptions of the evening (although the above is clustered and in short), and have not know what to say, what to do.
Whatever. For the benefit of my fellow posters, I'm launching a new service. It is....

                                THE ZYLKA TRANSLATOR.

I will now feed Zylka's header post through the translator which will strip out the posturing and the rococo twirls, and focussing on the point being made. Here we go...
