Bugs, I know what you mean about relay story writing, since that is what I've normally done (Civ Wars the Prequal, being a notable exception). You do get wierd breaks in writing style (see the above 'Gospel According to Dracon' link), but they are good fun, and usually pretty funny... not too bad, but they don't end up being good stories yes.
History is an interesting thing to converse about, but how many here do you actually think care about history (Hell, I'd wager most of them just drifted to the OT... histo wha? types). And, not everyone can be as funny with history as yourself. Requires a bit of research too.
Not a bad idea at all, just need people dedicated to that sort of thing. The parody (using Apolytoners) seems to have the greatest comedic value here, for whatever reason (ability to relate, I figure).
I like the common theme, though I'm not sure everyone will go for history. It is well worth the try, and if you want to go for it, I'll join up... Hell, why not? Been a while since I wrote anything story-like (the Excellent Adventures seem ages ago).
