          Okay, what am I missing?

          Can someone outline why this game is so amazing to warrant a dozen in a row and otherwise soap opera-quality enthusiasm?

          It seems like the run of the mill strategy game, minus the good graphics?

                Real-time battles (with pause button ) + TBS = best of both worlds.

                  I'm not trying to rain on your parade, I'm asking somebody to explain to me what exactly I seem to be missing.

                  I really do hope everyone doesn't get too excited about it. There's no way any game will live up to type reactions.

                          Because it offers a real world simulation at being a leader of a nation. Games like this simply do not get made anymore.

                          If you've played Shadow President (despite its flaws), you can get some idea as to what the anticipation is. Or play Conflict: Middle East or Hidden Agenda; games that simulate running a nation, realisitically (more or less).

                            The hype was never lived up too... while it did end up being a good game.

                            However... I think that I will wait for the reviews before buying this game.

                              Well, being the best game I've ever played (well, EU2 anyway), it did live up to the hype.
