No oppositions in Iraq. Have to dirty are own hands..
aint worth it.
We've been bombing his ass for 10 years to no avail. His power is dug-in like an Alabama tick. Even if we did start bombing.....good luck. Saddam laughs at and shruggs off our bombs. His air-defense switch on radar-fire SAM-and-switch off radar as to not to be bombed by HARM. His tanks hide in Garages...and his fighters in mountains.
You could have applied all 10 of those points to the First Gulf War. Or the current war against the Taliban.
Yet militarily we succeeded (or will succeed) with our objectives both times.
The only way is to kill Saddam.
Yes we bombed him for 10 years. But those are specific attacks focused on enforcing the no fly zone, with an occasional punitive measure.
We used concentrated heavy attacks to bomb the crap out of him during the First Gulf War, and he got his ass handed to him in a matter of days once the troops went in.

This is true......but you plan on killing Saddam how? If bombing doesnt work you have to send in troops. Do you have any idea how much more the Iraqi's will fight us after what we have done to them? You wont be picking up thousands of deserters thats for sure..... It would be very personal for the Iraqi Army having many troops lost family members due to sanctions....they would make the gulf war look like a cake walk.
Well it's a hard pill to swallow but sending in the ground pounders is really the only way to get him.
There are many people in there that hate the USA, definatley.
One of my coworkers is from Iraq, and he went back home after the war and said he cried many times while there, as the country was just wrecked. He blames the USA for his country's destruction.
But many people also hate Saddam just as much or even more. His whole regime is based out of fear and oppression.
Knowing how bad Iraq is messed up, to me that's even more of a reason that we have to do right by them.

Okay, now, first of all, I am NOT a pacifist and I'm NOT saying we shouldn't fight back.
Still, I have to ask this question:
Do you people really think you can solve all the problems in the world by just dropping a few bombs every once in a while ?!?
I don't really think you do, but some times that's the impression people get... - which is probably what got you into this mess in the first place.
Just a thought...
The real problem is that we think that only a few will do. The greatest wrong that the United States has done in Iraq is not using the total war mentality during the Gulf War. We went in and did as much damage as our allies would allow us to do and then basically left Saddam there to rebuild and to successfully set the US up as the problem with Iraq. No one had the guts to deal with an Iraq without Saddam. They didn't have the guts to deal with the Kurdish problem and they didn't have the guts to deal with a Shiite dominated south. We were gutless in that we did not want to stay there and actuly deal with the awesome responsibilty of helping the Iraqis cope with an Iraq without Saddam. So we just let him stay. It was the easy way out and we are now getting ready to pay dearly for our mistake. Those that were afraid of Afghanistan will find their true nightmare in Iraq. Sustained and prolonged was what Bush said this war would be. Perhaps this is what he had in mind. Maybe JR will go in and have to finish the job that daddy deceided was too politically hard. And this time I don't think our "friends" in the region will be as supportive as in the past.
Which side are we on? We're on the side of the demons, Chief. We are evil men in the gardens of paradise, sent by the forces of death to spread devastation and destruction wherever we go. I'm surprised you didn't know that. --Saul Tigh
Usually, quick solutions aren't the best in the long term.
The harder near term solutions are the ones that pay off exponentially in the long run.
This will be a hard decision, but it must be made.
The Iraqi people deserve it.
