    It was a well written speech, albeit rather ambitious. "Ending all tyranny in the world". Obviously, Bush does not expect to accomplish it in the next 4 years, it'll take decades, but it is still rather ambitious.
    'There is a greater darkness than the one we fight. It is the darkness of the soul that has lost its way. The war we fight is not against powers and principalities, it is against chaos and despair. Greater than the death of flesh is the death of hope, the death of dreams. Against this peril we can never surrender. The future is all around us, waiting, in moments of transition, to be born in moments of revelation. No one knows the shape of that future or where it will take us. We know only that it is always born in pain.'"

      In any event, religion is an evil that enslaves the human race. I look forward to the day it no longer oppresses the human mind.

        HAVE A DAY.
        <--- Quote by Former U.S. President Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt
        "And there will be strange events in the skies--signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And down here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. The courage of many people will falter because of the fearful fate they see coming upon the earth, because the stability of the very heavens will be broken up. Then everyone will see the Son of Man arrive on the clouds with power and great glory. So when all these things begin to happen, stand straight and look up, for your salvation is near!" --Luke 21:25-28
        For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the call of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, all the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and remain with him forever. --1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

            Chegitz, why do you choose not be tolerant of religion in our world?

              Sometimes I think he's taunting us; "I can speak like a braindead Fascist and get reelected anyway. In your face!"
              Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

                Did anyone else think this entire speech was a not so discreet slam against the UN?

                  No more than his "War on Terror" proclaimation. I think when he came out with that I predicted 2150 as the earliest it would be possible to declare "victory", and was called a hopeless optimist.

                      For the same reason I am not tolerant of the claim that 1 + 1 = 7. Because it is a falsehood. Be that as it may, I won't tell anyone what they can and can't believe. Nor will I oppress anyone for having such a belief. I'll just think you're a fool for believing it. On the other hand, it is you oh so opressed people that are trying to deny women and homosexuals their full rights. Your intolerance is far more harmful than mine.

                        Stalinism != communism.

                            We are led, by events and common sense, to one conclusion: The survival of liberty in our land increasingly depends on the success of liberty in other lands. The best hope for peace in our world is the expansion of freedom in all the world.
                            Does that scare you too? There have been some pretty peaceful oppresive dictatorships... If this is peace, I want war.
