did you miss my post?
there is scientific evidence that peadophilia cannot be fixed in adults
so while most people would not be child molesters
those that have been, are likely to be again in the future (and unlike the rest of us, must fight themselves to not be)
this is an important distinction, and I think is one that should result in different actions by the government
especially since being molested while young seems to be a main way to become a molester while older

I am not aware of abusive parents not being rehabilitateable
and the same with murderers (although, if they murder for no reason, than I can't really see how to rehabilitate)

JM: There will undoubtably be people whom cannot be rehab'd and are a risk, of that I am not calling into doubt but that is why they shouldn't be released. I should like to add that I would prefer them also to be studied in order to gain a greater understanding of their conditions in order to nip it in the bud so to speak in future cases."I work in IT so I'd be buggered without a computer" - Words of wisdom from Provost Harrison

I really didnt want to read through it allWhich side are we on? We're on the side of the demons, Chief. Now I didn't read it out of the journal myself, so I might not understand something (not my area of interest).

JM: Not mine either but I haven't read on anything about whether or not they can be rehab'd so i'm not qualified to talk about it, so until I hear anything contrary I'll concur with you. To me though, it doesn't represent evidence in favour of Megans law, rather keeping them lockedup or sectioned for life."I work in IT so I'd be buggered without a computer" - Words of wisdom from Provost Harrison

And thus, if this is concluded, then Child molestors should be imprisoned, either in a prison, or in a state mental instutition, for life. That is the fitting punishment, NOT Megan's Law type actions.
After all, in some states you execute the retarded and treat teenagers as adults, so good heavens, man, let's get Sparky or the juice injectors working, and weed out those potential real estate devaluers.Vive la liberte. Noor Inayat Khan, Dachau.

So while I might agree on the mental instution bit, I disagree on prison or death.

And what is wrong with treating teenagers as adults, if they do adult activities? If teenagers shouldn't be treated like adults ever, than we really need to do something about the sex, drugs and other adult behavior that goes on.

Well, I didn't claim that there was scientific research that they couldn't tell right from wrong.
So I am back to the position that ok, allow them to go free, but give them a mark to allow others to know that they are child molesters.

Good idea. Until we can effect that change in the law, however, we should be thankful that Megan's Law is in place to aid us in the protection of our children.
