The most important thing to shake my moral universe in 2005 will be the release of harddrive equipped mobile phones following on the release by Samsung and the rumours from Nokia. This will coincide nicely with the renewal of my phone contract and upgrade. Such devices will further cerment the mobile phone's shift into an all purpose media device.

And in late 2005/2006, the first generation of mobile phones able to recieve digital TV broadcasts will go on sale in the UK.
Exult in your existence, because that very process has blundered unwittingly on its own negation. Only a small, local negation, to be sure: only one species, and only a minority of that species; but there lies hope. [...] Stand tall, Bipedal Ape. The shark may outswim you, the cheetah outrun you, the swift outfly you, the capuchin outclimb you, the elephant outpower you, the redwood outlast you. But you have the biggest gifts of all: the gift of understanding the ruthlessly cruel process that gave us all existence [and the] gift of revulsion against its implications.

No human being can be leftist. It just shouldn't be. There is something wrong when someone is on the left wing because it violates human nature. I by the way am center-right. I'm not radical. You are radical.
For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)

Giancarlo's posts are much funnier if you imagine him as a chain smoking, whiskey drinking, angry man in a rabbit costume.

You've had too much to smoke and drink last night. Lighten up on the alcohol.

                  Dear Fez,

I've just married, but my partner has two children from a previous relationship. My 8-year old stepdaughter has accepted me, but the other child, a 12-year old boy, refuses to even speak to me. What should I do?

                  JA, Wolverhampton

Fez Sez: Your son sounds like a typical stepson... always wrong. Twelve is a difficult age for being a wrong-headed wrong person. Your stepson is being illogical. Make him see that he is an illogical stepson. The fact that I am saying that he is illogical shows that he is dead wrong.

I don't know who you are addressing as I don't know who Fez is. If you can't address me by my proper name, I will not respond to you and that is that. In fact if you address me by Fez again I'll put you on block. I will just not put up with it.

I predict that Apple's computer market share will go up this year.
                      HAVE A DAY.
<--- Quote by Former U.S. President Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt
"And there will be strange events in the skies--signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And down here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. The courage of many people will falter because of the fearful fate they see coming upon the earth, because the stability of the very heavens will be broken up. Then everyone will see the Son of Man arrive on the clouds with power and great glory. So when all these things begin to happen, stand straight and look up, for your salvation is near!" --Luke 21:25-28
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the call of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, all the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and remain with him forever. --1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

                          - Thanks to tax cuts, the US economy booms and grows a rate of 1000% per year

                          - France surrenders to Al Qaeda, briefly becoming an Islamic state before being nuked by the US.

                          - Homosexuality proved to be a conspiracy started by the UN to destroy religion.

                            Actually my prediction:

Nothing changes. More of the same crap from 2004.

The next few years will be like this.

After the "successful" election in Iraq the insurgency will degenerate into a bloody civil war. This prediction will be operable for 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009............ With a little luck the next President will pull us out of the mess we've created. People being what they are he'll be remembered as a loser and won't be re-elected.

Jesus our lord and saviour will return just in time to save us from ragnarok. Probably some time in April.
