Wow, the comedy stylings of Sprayber, listen, and you can hear my laughter echo out and spread its seed amid the ages

Take the stick out of your ass and things will be much brighter
Which side are we on? We're on the side of the demons, Chief. We are evil men in the gardens of paradise, sent by the forces of death to spread devastation and destruction wherever we go. I'm surprised you didn't know that. --Saul Tigh

Why are you here? If you don't have anything constructive to say, why don't you stop posting random unamusing attempts at making yourself look good at other people's expense and leave, thus not wasting your time.

It's just the impression I get. I started out trying to be nice but you had to get all snooty on me.

What are you talking about Whaleboy? Sprayber's insinuation that we are butt-buddies was the product of pure comic genius! I am still laughing so hard!!! I mean, the originality is unparalleled. Normally I would call Sprayber a ********ing ****eater or something, but his hilarity is unmatched by anything I could sya!

                does sarcasm translate well here?

But I won't insult Sprayber. I like him. And I find his faith in his God, Lord Jesus Christ, to be admirable. I mean, it takes a REAL man to believe in a fairy tale.
To us, it is the BEAST.

Well you don't know me, so go on what I say and don't try to psychoanalyse me over the internet .

Your first post in this thread started out by taking my love of despair.com way too seriously, and then say I have a stick up my ass?

Your talking to me about humor? Yours our his faith isnt my concern. It's your constant need to reaffirm that lack of faith that I find interesting. I dare you to find any post to where I actually talk about my particular faith. It's because I don't feel the need to constantly talk about like you do

My lack of faith =| faith. I'll quite happily admit that I have an axe to grind with organised religion because of stuff in my life, but I'm proud of what I've already achieved there and I don't think that my (perfectly acceptable) motivations invalidate either me, or my argument (or Russells to be annoying specific ).

I find that quite sad that you feel you need to attack others in order to right some wrong in your past. If you feel proud of that then I suppose it works for you. I would never be proud to have my life defined by what I opposed.

I don't attack others, I'm attacking the concept. You'll never find me attempting to deconstruct individual Christians, but i'll quite happily go to town on Christianity, you see the distinctions. With individual Christians, would I rather that certain individuals are peaceful and happy, or violent and dilenquent? Tough one, but it doesn't mean I have to agree with them.

I am proud of the work I have already done in this field, which runs in a very similar vein to Russell.

Ok, I make an attempt to save this thread :

You all know, of course, that there used to be in the old days three intellectual arguments for the existence of God, all of which were disposed of by Immanuel Kant in the Critique of Pure Reason; but no sooner had he disposed of those arguments than he invented a new one, a moral argument, and that quite convinced him.
A far as I understood Kant, he did not invent a new argument for existence of God. According to him, God is the ideal of an perfect being, it belongs to the things he calls "regulative ideas" (another one could be for example freedom) which are a product of reason, and serve as orientation for humanity. As such they are not provable (sp?), but Kant thinks they need to be thought to provide the orientation mentioned above. So he's not primarily after the real existence of God (in the sense that God lurks around in heaven and creates stuff ).
                            Blah

I think Russell means that Kant was unwittingly providing that argument, more related to the conflict between categorical and hypothetical imperative I think. Latterly is the implication for your quite correct statement.
