Sadly i dont think a strong enough change in the law will be passed, and we will have this discussion again in a few years, after more innocent people have lost their lives in their own homes

Or a simple test of reasonability? Like we have now?
I'll say it again- do you have any conception of how rare it is for a homeowner assaulting or killing a burglar to be prosecuted? Trust me- it's rare. I know of two householders being imprisoned in the past decade. However we have a tabloid-generated barrage of bull**** that has left people thinking they can't defend themselves. That's not true and never has been.
