But does that mean you'll go see a movie with him in it even if you know it's crap? Well, apparently you do, considering Gigli... And if you go see a movie with him in it that unexpectedly turns out to be crap, can you not regret seeing it (paying for it) just because of his scenes?

(Just to be clear, I'm not trying to judge you, I'm just curious.)

Finally I'd like to point out that everyone on that list has made stinkers. The artistry of a movie does not depend soley upon the actors and actresses, it also rests upon the scriptwriters, the director, and the editors. I've even seen movies ruined by the musical department and the prop masters / special effects artists.
This is sort of the idea behind the question. Actors have the opportunity to read and decide if this is a good script or not. Some actors will appear in anything for a check. But who do you trust to appear in a good movie consistently.

        ACK!
They have great taste in the scripts they choose whether they star in the film or are playing supporting roles. I've found some great films by using this method. Same with Parker Posey.

          • It's unfortunate that I can't add any women to this list. roles for women are so ****ty. The only women I could even consider are kate Beckinsale based on her role in Eternal Sunshine and Maggie Cheung based on her roles in In the Mood for Love and Hero.

I would also add Tony Leung Chiu Wai for his roles in In the Mood for Love and Hero.

No way. He can't act. He doesn't know what acting is.

The way you wrote that reminds me of the Monarch from the Venture Bros.

I love in the mood for love. I can only judge his acting from his ability to convey his characters to me even though he's speaking a different language. Some actors can't connect using the same language as the audience. Tony is a great ****ing actor. IMHO.

                    • I think that Leonardo Dicaprio is another actor who choses good scripts.

                          • I'm not going to jump on the bandwagon and say Titanic was a horrible movie. It had good special effects. But I wouldn't call the script good. I'd call it adequate.

                            • Yeah, but it made Leo a ton of cash. He knew it would. The guy knows which movies to pick.

actually he's had a few stinkers, but a majority of them are good.

I'm watching one of his classics right now on AMC channel.

                                For a few dollars more.
