The reason I have no fear of FOXNews is that its viewpoints are so alien to most Canadians that it will probably cause revulsion and hence a backlash (if it has any noticeable effect at all).

If you look at voter polls that's simply not true. More voted based on the infamous values issues than anything else.

Doubtful. FOXNews speaks to a demographic which already existed in the US. It's ridiculously out of tune with anything even close to mainstream in Canada.

They got 2.5 million signatures for the petition, IIRC. Only 1 million were to be required to force a referendum on the issue. Good thing for Doris that he wasn't able to pass that law. I certainly would have voted yes in the referendum....

It will be a subscription channel, so I guess we will have an idea of the demand soon enough. I would hazard a guess it will sign up a couple more than al Jazeera.

Personally I'm glad the CRTC made the right decision for a change. While I have no burning desire to pay for the priviledge of seeing O'Riley on a regular basis, I am pleased the option is there for those that want it.

Now it appears O'Reilly was just threatening a boycott to get Fox News in Canada, i.e., Bill lied.

I'll have to take that back, I'm not sure what has happened with the US soldiers seeking asylum in Canada. If they are still up there I wonder why Bill has quieted down about them and his threatened boycott. He might be waiting for Canada to make a decision, but I highly doubt O'Reilly will call for a boycott when Canada is letting Fox on the air. Does anyone know anything about these US soldiers in Canada?
