You are welcomed... but I will have to find something in order to replace the Absinthe as it is not legal in France. As one of the most cultivated man in Australia, I suppose you have already tasted what I consider as being a delicacy the Suze. Though its bitter taste makes it difficult for most of the people, this is definitely something you should know. If you already know and appreciate the Suze, I will try to find out a bottle of Gentiane des Alpes...

Bah humbug! Actually, there's a film out in the cinemas here called "Bad Santa", with Billy Bob Thornton playing a drunken, foul-mouthed department store Santa who hates children. Every time I see a trailer for the film, Tamerlin springs to mind. And apparently there's a version out on DVD in the States, sort of a director's cut of the film. It's called "Badder Santa" and contains some of the more foul-mouthed Santa material cut from the film for cinema release.
I just hope this movie is not spoiled by a happy end where love is saving the world... once again.

No, I haven't tried it, and I look forward to it. Bitter? I'm very fond of Grappa. If I can drink Grappa, I think I can handle some Suze.

I haven't seen it yet, but apparently it doesn't have a traditional happy ending.

Just when the party's warming up, you're taking your bottle of Suze and going home!

The vocabulary is indeed a great barrier, the fact it is a gentleman's game can only make it worse.

For the moment I must admit I won't even try to grip with it.

I think you will like it. I will try to find some Gentiane des Alpes, the taste is close to the Suze though finer.

Good! You should see Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind before!

You bring the Gentiane des Alpes, we'll bring the Grappa.

I'll have to wait till it comes out on DVD. And you should see Adaptation!

And how would Tamerlin get his head around the fact that Shane Warne, as a right-arm bowler, bowls googlies, but if he were a left-arm bowler, he would bowl chinamen?

                        • I have enough trouble getting my head around right/left handed stuff myself!

You certainly don't see many chinamen these days do you?

I see tamerlin is declining the opportunity to become a more rounded gentleman in any case? Shame.

I am not declining it, I don't have the opportunity to. Besides that, I am French you know...

Very rare. Michael Bevan took some wickets for us bowling them. Traditionally, they can spin the ball a mile but are very erratic, more so than the right-handed leggies for some reason.

Just a heathen! And I saw something in the news about some extraordinary new bridge built somewhere in France. Designed by a Pom!
