And to curtail that problem, the US government could deny visas to obviously pregnant women, but what danger is posed by men, elderly women or children...

Then again, we are talking about US immigration. They probably couldn't tell the difference between a pregnant woman and an old man.

The new visa rules apply to Hong Kong people, even to people travelling in transit.

No loss for me, but the American airlines and the Americans working for the airlines are the ones paying the price. A couple of the airlines are on the verge of bankruptcy and the loss of international fares is one reason for the financial troubles.

Yeah, like I told Boshko, never did I say that the US government's response was intelligent.

is better than in expressing the feeling of "wow, this thread is really crappy overall". Of course, I could always start using or more often.

How about you do that. I'm sure we would all appreciate a new way for you to show us your disdain for our posts. It must be so hard coexisting with us mere mortals.

And they already started doing it.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891
