Of course not, Farb. I'm not a politician, nor a campaign manager, nor anyone in the public eye. Me calling someone a neaderthal doesn't have much effect.

But most polls have been showing the young vote is registering overwhelmingly Republican, some sort of backlash against the Liberal establishment and educators.

Drudge has Hunter S. Thompson saying of the young vote "Those little bastards betrayed us again"

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

I merely said that maybe the Left is wrong about abortion and/or gay marriage. Again, I am not calling anyone anything.

But they aren't . In 50 years people will look back and wonder why people were voting against gay marriage and were anti-abortion.

Oh, and if you are going to bring up race relations (slavery), what about those people who called Jim Crow proponents bigots? Were they wrong because the majority said no?

              1) Calling people bigots is not going to win you votes. So don't be surprised then if the Democrats lose elections based on "values".
I couldn't care less. The civil rights movement was an attempt to overcome bigotry. Should these people have pretended that they weren't fighting against bigotry?

Homosexuals are just the new ******s to you guys. What is it with the far right, there always has to be some class of people suffer for you to be happy.

              2) I reject the premise that a majority of Americans are bigots.
Then you reject reality. The sad attitudes of the majority towards homosexuals prove it.

Here in Canada a lot of people do not personally like the idea of gay marriage. But most of them think it worse to promote legislation that discriminates against homosexuals.

The funny thing is that the religious right profess to be Christians. Jesus Christ was unquestionably a Robin Hood type. Why is it then that fundies consistently vote for the Sheriff of Nottingham?

Jesus Christ is perhaps one of the most kickass historical or literary figures (depending on how you look at Him) in history. Its too bad that his ideas are being thrown by the wayside by fundies.

No one told the Liberation Theology movement.

I would really like it if God did exist. It would be amusing to see the look on the fundies' faces as the overlord sent them to hell.

In 50 years, when far too much of the country is old and grey and still working for pennies, people will look back and wonder why we didn't have more kids, when we could see what all the population models were predicting.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

Jesus was not a Robin Hood type - he was more like a conscientious objector. And don't forget "give unto Caesar what is Caesar's"

That way leads overpopulation. We just need to massively increase productivity. Too bad for capitalism though.
