      I was wrong.

Hmm I wonder who was head of the AFL at that time; because I could have sworn it was Debs, I must have misread something. Thank god for the internet and it's corrective capabilities.

That's it Debs was in charge of the ARU (American Railroad Union) during the Pullman strike(1894~). How I commuted him to the the AFL Im not sure.

lord of the rings was way after that.... I'd just be something very Prussian, but I'm more interested in what the thrwad title by any German could be, according to big political things or something.... why we need to defeat the Royal Navy

it is interesting to think about it if you consider where your family stood around that time and then try and think of a point to make

On my paternal grandfather's side that would be a merchant family in Lübeck, not too well off but probably above average of the time. to estimate my grandmother's family's situation is quite difficult, as is all my maternal branch. all of them would be at the lower end of the lower middle class

I'm just saying all this because you can't know if Michael would talk about tanks/cavalry horses if he was in poorer conditions than he is, but that's just me being picky... the economic situation relative to the rest of society wouldn't be too different for me though.

                    • If memory serves Debs was just head of the AFL at that time and reluctingly endorsed Teddy.

No, and no. Debs was a leader in the IWW (far more radical than the AFL), and was running for President during both of TR's runs.

                        • I am the pinnacle of my family line of course

Seriously though, pretty much a thoroughly working class descent, mainly involved with the fishing industry in this country (all my grandparents except my paternal grandmother who is from Co. Durham and is from the coalmining tradition). On my paternal side my grandmother is from Co. Durham, although at that time they may have been in Selby, N. Yorks as well, and my grandfather was from Cornwall, who came to Hull via Fleetwood, all these places having fishing industries. On my maternal side my grandfathers family would have been in Nottingham - he came to Hull for work and, surprisingly, ended up in the fishing industry as a buyer. And my grandmother was from a family who were involved with the fishing industry in Hull as far back as year dot. I am pretty sure I am the first one that I know of in my family line who has a university education believe it or not...

I might do more, though it would be from a different period of time. I won't do it until I finish my essay, though, which should be at next Thursday or Friday.
