Wouldn't it be great if George W Bush and John Kerry were both Apolyton posters. Great lovers of Civ. And then we could just close all the attack threads. Every time someone got a little too impassioned about anything to do with American politics... Lock Down! No personal attacks on them posters please, regardless of how rubbish they are..
    Concrete, Abstract, or Squoingy?

I guess Malevolent feels the need to stick up for Ann Coulter.
You're right, I do. It is also a personal issue with you though. I can't stand the emotionally weak.

Then maybe you should take it up with the African Kings who sold them to us in the first place.
Yeah, slavery was Africa's fault. European demand for slaves had nothing to do with it.

But all that aside, you aren't doing blacks a favor by saying they should be held to a lower standard. All that does is perpetuate the education gap. Affirmative action by definition is racism. Racism never helps anyone, even when it's done to try and help a particular race (it was actually created just to get votes for the Democratic party). There are plenty of educated blacks out there who made it without affirmative action, Rice being one of them.
Black poverty rates in the US are 24% higher than that of whites. Why do you think that is?

Because Democrats have been promising to help blacks for years and haven't done ****. You guys have kept them on welfare and let their schools go to ****. And don't tell me it's Republicans because Republicans don't get elected to urban areas. It's why blacks are starting to turn towards republicans. You can't help people by lowering the standard. You have to raise their standards to ours so they have an equal chance to succeed. If they lack the skills then they aren't going to get jobs, plain and simple. Affirmative action is the biggest disservice to blacks ever.

Sorry, sweetums. Black poverty and disenfranchisement LOOOOOONG predates both democrats and republicans.

                      Try again.

He has been... many times... and probably will be again some time in the future. He's been warned, and he generally plays by the rules after he is. If he doesn't, he gets banned. Ranting against one political party won't get you banned as long as it isn't personal... or I could think of a lot of Dems who would already be banned

Silly you, it's the Democrats' responsibility to fix the world, the Republicans are completely exempt from that sort of thing!

How does doing away with affirmative action raise their standards? How does it give them an equal chance to succceed? I'm hearing lots of rhetoric, but no explanation on how getting rid of affirmative action is going to make things better.

Is it supposed to motivate black people more?

"Oh look, no more affirmative action... I guess that means I'll work harder at school."

I disagree with affirmative action... but only because it doesn't solve the problem. The problem is simple. Urban schools are overcrowded and urban areas tend to have higher crime and more poverty.

Getting rid of affirmative action without doing anything to address the core issue will make things worse.

And be honest ML, we know you are a republican, so you just hate blacks... I mean, it's easy to pick up on your racism. You blame blacks for slavery.
