Get some more details, and post a "would you take this job" thread.

There are reasons why I believe mankind should live in cities and let nature reclaim all the villages with the exception of a few we keep on display as horrific reminders of rural life.-Starchild

Realistically the health risk is probably pretty low as long as you're careful - I imagine you'd receive a course in the basics before leaving?

The real strain however would most likely be felt on the homefront.
I can't imagine Mrs Horse being too, erm, 'keen' on the idea...

Why would you want to go? You need to state a reason. If you're a soldier I don't think Japan is sending more troops to Iraq, but perhaps your government is making a change of plans, if so I salute you and your rising star?

Does this country let one partner take out a life insurance policy on the other without the other's knowledge?

I thought AH's claim to fame is that he was a ninja ,or the last of the great Shogun, or somesuch? What a disappointment, but I suppose it is not your fault, I bet you eat Chinese food from a restaurant, not from the sloping hills of Tokyo, better safe than sorry

I thought Wiglaf was one of AH's DLs.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

And you can't take out life insurance for that anyway
