Who cares when you would probably have 4 of the top three.

Plato, Aristotle and Homer are the core of the western literary, political and scientific tradition. No one else even compares.
    YEAH! Ancient Greeks rule supreme.

Uh... no. You seem to forget that I spend most of my time thinking about this stuff.
may I ask where do you work/study? or what do you do?

BTW, has anybody read Michael H. Hart's book: Mankinds 100 Greatest?

Dan, we learn something every day.

Well it seems we have discovered the most important Canadian to have ever breathed: Alexander Graham Bell.

        • Here's the final order for the Finns:

          1. C.G.E. Mannerheim (president of Finland, 1944-1946, and Marshal of Finland)
          2. Risto Ryti (president of Finland, 1940-1944)
          3. Urho Kekkonen (president of Finland, 1956-1981)
          4. Adolf Ehrnrooth (infantry general, a figurehead for the Finnish veteran community)
          5. Tarja Halonen (current president of Finland, 2000- )
          6. Arvo Ylppö (famed pediatrician)
          7. Mikael Agricola (protestant reformer and creator of the written Finnish language)
          8. Jean Sibelius (world-famous composer)
          9. Aleksis Kivi (author of the first significant Finnish novel, Seitsemän veljestä / Seven Brothers)
          10. Elias Lönnrot (creator of the Finnish national epic Kalevala)

Incidentally, the 34. greatest Dutchman was apparently someone named 'Multatuli'. , as in Finnish spoken language, that can mean, among other things, "I came" (in the porn movie sense)

The interchangeability of matter and spirit means the starlit magic of the outermost life of our universe becomes the soul-light magic of the innermost life of our self." - Dennis Kucinich, candidate for the U. S. presidency
"That’s the future of the Democratic Party: providing Republicans with a number of cute (but not that bright) comfort women." - Adam Yoshida, Canada's gift to the world

          • Halonen wins Agricola, Sibelius and Lönnrot? What did she do to win these guys? These guys are actually important. While it's the president.. well, and one who has not failed significantly and all, but she hasn't done anything greater than these guys did.
