  • I'll be on Fox News Tomorrow

Just to give y'all a heads up, I'm gonna be on Fox News (in the US) tomorrow afternoon at 5:45 PM EST. I'll be talking about lowering the voting age with host Greg Jarrett (i don't have cable, so I don't know the guy) and some opposition person.

Tune in if you're interested in seeing a fellow 'polytoner on live, nationwide TV.

btw, for more information on this subject, check out http://www.youthrights.org

Tass, I have no problem with kids voting. THey are generally more educated about the issues than adults are. Mainly because they talk about them at school, while adults are too hopped up on goof balls to care.

Well first of all I'm not talking about 5 year olds. But teens are certainly smart enough to vote. I know some pretty dumb, ignorant adult voters. If they have a right to vote, then it is absolutely unjust to prohibit young people. There is no requirement voters be smart, educated, literate or even sane.

I think voting has something to do with taxation however.... the whole deal is taxation = representation (aka vote). Dependent kids are a tax break for parents, they rarely pay any.

(I'm just throwing out some opposition, I actually think the 1/2 vote thing is a good idea. IT was started by some kook here in San Jose by the way.)

actually Ozzy may have a point.

at first the idea seems stupid. but it's not like we are forcing kids to vote. most wont' vote anyways. The only one's who will vote are the one's that care about politics. They are probably just as informed as any adult voter, if not more so.

                          Exactly Diss.

And Japher, youth DO pay taxes, an estimated $9.7 Billion in sales taxes alone each year. And can get charged as adults for crimes, and pending the Supreme Court decision can get put to death.

Diss you are more wrong than right... Kids go to school, they take classes that discuss these issues. Voting will be a field trip.

Still, at least those kids have discussed the issues, unlike most ignorant and stubborn adults who will vote however their "leader" tells them.

Ozzy; Smooth... I'd also point out that if it weren't for the kids the parents would be spending as much money as they do. Especially on tuitions.
