You can pull it off Vel. You can't be beaten down by a scorpion. You can fight it. Even if you have to slide down. Perhaps when you are reading this, you have already won another fight. Be brave.

I like the idea of sending a card, but that idea could get quite time cumbersome and time consuming. If 20 people wanted to participate and we assume it takes 2 days per person to send the card around (which is quite fast, especially if the card would have to go around the entire world), it would take some 40 days for Vel to get the card. And of course, the more people participate, the longer it takes. It would be much easier and faster (and probably make an even bigger impression on Vel) if everyone sent their own card. I don't know if it's possible to send the card directly to the hostipal where Vel is, then noone's privacy would be jeopardised either...
Yes that is true. I don't know. I just thought that it would be more special for him if he gets one card with multiple people's name on it. I guess not many people would want to do it, so for the people who would do it, it won't be lasting forever. Even if he's already well recovered when he receives it, it is still special, isn't it?

Get vell Vel and may your fingers type billions and billions more of those simple symbols which, when put together by you, make up those superb stories!

The contributions of Vel are indeed awesome, I think he served a great role in addicting many people to these forums. And I've always been amazed at his quick understanding of strategy games... the man is just a fountain of bright ideas.
His appearance in CtP2 forums was indeed one of the most memorable moments for us CtPers.

It's very depressing to see you bothered by the same thing again, Chris. I read your story the first time around, and you indicated that it was something that was going to stay, that there was a good chance that it returned... it seems your sickness returned indeed

what horrible news! I can't believe that chris/vel is sick.
I'll certainly send a card. SMAC, the spartan chronicles, and Civ3 certainly hold a fond place in my memory, and Vel helped shape all three of those things. Get well soon Chris!
