Statements are concepts strung together. Strings of symbols are our method of encoding and transmitting these statments. A universe in which people could communicate concepts directly, with no need for a language of any kind, is entirely conceivable.

My favourite part of any debate thread is when Kuci comes along and starts 8 new arguments at once.Concrete, Abstract, or Squoingy?

Abstract discussions are good, because that is how we may attempt to look at arguments from another plane, since they are tainted at the surface.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

I don't care for it, because you get what we have here. People debating whether or not you can communicate without language. I see no value to it given the real issue.. Abstract discussions can be good fun as well. Hell, moral relativity discussions are somewhat abstract, this is just another level.

Sometimes a lack of connection to reality in a discussion makes it a better discussion, which can later, if you want, be attached to reality.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
