I have various pendant things to hang round my neck (a stylised Maori bone fishhook, a stylised Crawley steel fishhook, a crocodile tooth and a fish thing), but I don't wear any of them very much. I had a leather wristband thing I wore for quite a while, but then I lost it.

Rings generally look stupid (except wedding rings), earrings depend on the wearer, gold jewelry or massive silver chains are generally a bad idea unless you are a big rap star or something.

        I agree.

I refuse to buy women jewlery. hence why I'm single . actually I've never had an opportunity to buy a woman jewelry. I haven't been in a serious enough relationship.

If I ever do have to get married, I will refuse to buy her diamonds based on the fact the diamond trade is responsible for thousands of deaths in africa. I'll tell her little kids get their arms chopped off for not working hard enough in the mines (this is possibly true- I heard it on the radio ). I'll get her a cubic zirconia instead. we'll see if that flys.

At the same time, things like tongue piercings, nipple piercings, or those huge friggin piercings that you can run a chain through make me cringe, regardless of whether it's a man, woman, or androgynous it-thing wearing said piercings. It's just the gag-factor involved that gets to me. Sort of like the difference between somebody getting a tattoo on their upper-arm and somebody getting a tattoo on their taint.
possibly the first time I've seen the word taint in this context in a poly post. There's a first for everything.

Men care too much about what other men wear, it's almost like a flock of women in some places. Wouldn't a straight guy be thinking about sports, women, work, vacation, or something other than some other guy's clothes/jewelry? I worry more about the men who want to be fashion critics of other men rather than the guy that wants to wear a tie chain or a ring.

I find it fascinating how terrified most straight boys are of looking gay. Must be so depressing walking about thinking "is this too gay?"
I know straight men terrified about this & I'm in Calfornia. And it's not just clothes/jewelry. It's silly. Some guy talks about how "x is gay" and suddenly it is taboo for all straight guys because it doesn't fit into society's mold.

I can see it now... a future where every straight guy wears only the uniform of presidential candidates... a solid red or blue tie only, white shirt only, plain black suit only, and wedding ring only. And then someone will call the red tie "too gay".

wouldn't gay guys be afraid of looking straight?

I always figured I'd be a failure as a gay guy. Because I have no fashion sense, and wouldn't be able to dress gayly.

The only jewellery a man should wear is a watch.

                I don't even wear a wedding ring.

                Jewellery is for poofs.

                  no wedding ring

I would wear a wedding ring. women expect that. and it will be my compromise for not buying her a diamond ring (see my above rant about diamonds)

but in my line of work rings would not be good. I'd have to take it off for work.

No, it's traditional. Wedding rings for men is a new thing here.

Is that because your ancestors used handcuffs instead?

                            Ho, ho

I think it's because my ancestors were working men and jewellery was dangerous.

But anyway I just think jewellery of any kind, including a wedding ring, looks butt ugly on a man. It's a personal thing.
