  • Your Reactions to the VP Debate

There is another vice-president thread but I thought I would create a thread meant to focus purely on your opinions and reactions to the debate between Cheney and Edwards.

I must say, that I was very disappointed with some of Edwards performance during the debate. There were a couple of times when I shouted to my television for Edwards to control his reactions.

Well from what I read by people so far (left and right), Cheney cleaned up. Told you so .

But you still support Kerry and Edwards right? I mean, I am disappointed with Edwards, but that's no reason for me to withdraw my support for him and Kerry.

Cheney made a huge deal about the Senate records of Kerry and Edwards. This can only be bad for them.

I'm undecided, and I think Cheney shredded Edwards. But why does that really matter?

            Dick "Warhorse" Cheney clearly won.

Basically a tie, but Edwards wins slightly in style and expectations.

Edwards scored a big hit when he illustrated Cheney's Congressional record. But he only really did it once or twice; he should have gone back to it every time Cheney went after their voting records.

Who the Hell cares about VP? The position is only to get votes.

I think Edwards did better than what some here say. He's better than Dan Quayle. Besides, even though they will be a heartbeat away, this debate means little in the scheme of things.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

If you don't remember, Dan, except for that "You're no Jack Kennedy" line, Quayle did very well in his VP debates.

                          That was a great line.

Cheney is far more knowledgeable and articulate than Bush, but he continued in Bush's faith-based style: "We're better than you are. Cause I said so. So there." There were no zingers, but Edwards consistently provided clearer content than Cheney: "Here are the things we would do differently from the present administration." Cheney wasn't too bad, but he really didn't have a lot to say except "I think this, I claim that."
