Dude, I know that. But you have a bigger risk in raw food then cooked food. Take chicken. If you undercook chicken you could get in a lot of trouble... I'm just saying cooked fish is less of a risk then uncooked fish.

So some people find sushi an acceptable risk, even given the facts, Fez.

Puffer fish? Yeah I don't eat it though. I heard it is fatal if prepared wrong.

That I know having eaten it before. I do take risks... but I'm just posting an article. I knew the dangers.

Fez, fair enough you're taking a risk when you put anything in your mouth, so I'd support clear labelling etc but ultimately the person who is responsible is the person who's eating it. I happen to enjoy sushi and this doesn't faze me.

--"i'm sure you can get diseases or problems from broccoli and water."

                        Like giardia...

Seriously, though, this is rather overblown. Eating anything carries some sort of risk with it. Just like any time you eat out, make sure you go somewhere reputable.

Of course, if you don't live on the coast, you're pretty much out of luck for getting good sushi anyway.

Personally, I don't like california rolls at all, but that's because I can't stand avacado in anything.

--"Puffer fish? Yeah I don't eat it though. I heard it is fatal if prepared wrong."

That's actually the point. The whole trick to preparing fugu is take out enough of the toxins to keep it non-fatal, but leave enough in so you get the tingle from it. Japanese fugu chefs are rather strictly regulated.

And besides I like the taste of cooked food more then raw food.

I do find the concept of people who don't even blink at the risk of eating raw fish but will recoil at the thought of eating food containing any gmo a bit ludicrous. Unfortunately I've had occasion to meet such people. I guess imaginary risks are far more frightening than real ones.

Sushi is arguably the best food in the world. There is no reason not to eat it.
