    • so I am still looking at laptops (But might just decide for a kickass desktop)

a powerbook has everything I want, but is a mac

the xseries has the right size, but is weak (poor graphics, no cd drive)

the tseries is a little large

all three are a bit more than I would like to pay

toshiba is even more expensive, and weaker and doesn't have as good as name

      • Well, if you just want a work computer, I definitely recommend the Powerbook.

I wouldn't say USD4,000 for Area 51 or whatever it is called is good value...

Why would you want to pay a major company when a small company can do the same thing at a lower price?

                • I don't want to deal with a smaller company. Basically, I'm looking between Alienware and Dell. Only because I want a gaming machine so Apple doesn't apply, IBM is supposedly more of the "Apple" version of the PC's, and with Voodoo, their top machines are Athlon-based.

                        • Gateway and Dell were both much better when they were much smaller.
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

                          • that is true at least for Gateway

never bought a Dell (although my laptop looks very similiar to a Dell, it is a Quantex, which I beleive is no longer in business)
