As the say, a picture is worth a thousand words- a video far more. The worth of keeping some ammo out of the hands of insurgents was far lower than the harm of having a bunch of civilians, even ones celebrating a burning US vehicle, killed, especially in front of the cameras.If you don't like reality, change it! me

I wonder what the rules of engagement are in this case.
Do the guys in the gunship have to get approval before they shoot?
Are they the ones who determine that there are "hostiles" down there as opposed to civilians?
Did they think there was still someone in the Bradley? (Unlikely from our POV... but they did not have our POV.)What?Comment

It's a vicious cycle, Americans kill/injure loads of civilians, Iraqis kill Americans, Americans retaliate and kill/injure another load of unarmed civilians, Iraqis want to kill more Americans and cheer / dance when they do.

For me personally, that doesn't matter. It's SOP to prevent our vehicles and equipment into falling into the wrong hands. I would be the Helo arrived with the sole intent to blow up the Bradley.
